- every new player starts in honour mode
- every player can choose to end his honour mode any time to change into the ruthless mode
- every player is only able to return to honour mode during the era pause
in honour mode
- in a battle you only get 50% of the positive score
- you won't get any negative scores (except if you battle against an alliance member, in this seldom case you would get negative scores)
- your fleets won't be able to hold a score planet (though you can still help a ruthless alliance member to defend it)
- all other scores will work as normal (score planets, flag stealing)
in ruthless mode
- you get 100% of the battle scores
- you will get negative scores, if you lose a battle
- you can hold score planets
