in the last months we didn't do much for st. But this can be a chance.
i analysed several free to play and other games. they may shine with fancy graphics and stuff, but i still think the browser-base is still a good basis.
now that there are very few active players we could make some major game changes.
my idea is to connect colony play, add a trading system by adding a resource system.
the resource is the tactical score + colony score. lets call it "resources" without any further detail.
basic ships dont need these "resources" any other ship needs them (depending tec level)
i would think it would be fun if each race could only produce the ships that belong to your race. the neighbor-race-ships need to be traded. for game balance you could not use ships that are not belonging to your race or your neighbor races - but you can trade them.
with this system we could also add some balance if we make special ships more resource hungry.
this will help to connect the colony and tactical game and would seem very intuitive for new players. trading could add another way to play this game.
i think it could be fun to increase the research times - so special ships will be something with higher value. it also encourge new players to stick to standart tec - that helps orienting.
i think it would be fun. _________________

I am happy to read you think about it.
In my opinion the game needs to be reinvented to get the attention it deserves. Not the concept, but: transform it into an app, if you have the time and the resources for that. It suits mobile playing very well.
Otherwise i'm afraid your attemps wont be succesfull. _________________ “All war is deception.” |

All that you have built and all that we have experienced will fall if we don't adapt.
The apocalypse has been coming to spacetrace for years.
Apps, mobile, social media.... that's not the future that's the now.

Hi guys;
Things are very slow I gather.
Having read the thread, I wonder:
- Who has the source code?
- Is it available to us? |

I like spacetrace how it is but, like T2 I think any changes made won't hurt spacetrace at all. I am delighted to see that the creators have not given up as many others would have; that is how great things happen. I like the resource idea and I feel that a mobile app will offer the most fruit for your labor. I joined spacetrace back when it had around 200 active players and loved it. As I understand spacetrace had much more than that before I started playing. Spacetrace has what it takes to be successful. I think a mobile app is the key. |

Sorry for nearly a year long bump.
When I started playing this game I was 12 years old and there were over a thousand players. I'm 25 now.
Right now, there are 7 active players.
I'm not a programmer, but If anything, I think spacetrace would be MORE relevant and successful as a mobile app than it ever has been.
Serious $$$$ if you ask me. _________________ Calvin: I'm a genius, but I'm a misunderstood genius.

it's not about the money
would be just fun if we could run this game as long as possible.
i would really like to implement some kind of economic system - i am still thinking... (it should not pi$$ off 5 of the 7 players )
the winter is long _________________
