hey got sombody x-wing alliance i needed to get the dust of it, but its got a great 3d models wich ya can use if you like, its got the tie fighters of course, but it also has the eagle look up the eagle pic and ya see its a ship of starwars.
(a correlian gunship a correlian gunship doesnt have smaller cannons its like the heaviest armed ship exept a star destroyer)
and there ar manny more 3d models ya can use.
if that doesnt work (if ya have the game) you could use the mission briefing thing thats animated and it doesnt look to tricky. |

i just came back from hollidays and saw your brilliant work.
did you get some complete data data already?
unfortunately our developement server is down right now, and we will not be able to program new things until tuesday. but then we will add the complete battlereport to the game, so you can go on with your work... |

Battle Visualisation is not one of the easiest things to do. It is on the wishlist for almost 2 years.

I really don't care how you do it.
But some sort of graphics would be awesome! The fact that there were no pictures or anything is the reason why three of my friends left the game!
Graphics! This is the no.1 thing that spacetrace needs.

So the plan is to mix all those little animations to make an animated battereport that will vary depending on the battle situtation.
I am not sure how to program that, so i would like to have help of the admins. Those who can make animations like compu_head are welcome and needed to help.
There should be like a buttom to see the animation, so slow computers will not have to see them.
I thing this will be a big improvement to the game so ill really like that this idea takes a better form with your opinions.

if something like this is to be implemented it could be more than just looking at a visual representation of your battlereports.
im thinking with the same system you could have a look at any sector you have fleets or probes in and see that sector visualised in nice 2d or even 3d graphics. you could see a visual representation of your fleets hanging around some planet and if you have a DSP then you can also see enemy fleets represented by generic ships for each class.
in perfection this would be seamlessly integrated with the colony(game) map. so that you can zoom in on the map so far that you see real images of fleets and planets and nice nebulas and asteroids.
battle visualisation should be structured in a way that also teaches new players about class combat and the way ships modify each-other.
ohh. this could all be soo nice : )
cant even imagine how much work it is to program though...
but still nice to fantasize

This could be in the App. Simple battles like are seen in Civilization or in http://www.pelantas.com/. Some sort of visual is key. |
