Is apollo unbalanced ship?

I was just wondering about this ship...Isnt it to powerful?Unbalanced maybe?

I mean there isnt a single c2 ship that can stop it and as far as Im concerned they dont have any drawbacks.
In my opinion Its apollos that make swank unbalanced fleet.Cyclops can be stopped in more than one way but apollos well only outnumbering them in a direct fight will kill them.
There was a ship long time ago on a planet that was apollo resistant but its long gone by now.

You can just use a sporator in any fleet setup. Then your c2 ships are immune against apollos.

Also evaps will work against apollos, very well .

no they are not. sporators dont save c2 from apollos. just takes 2 apollo hits for each c2 when they ar ebuffed by sporators.

EDIT> evaps work against apollos only if apollos are escorted with cyclops. apollos themselves will not trigger a single evaporator.

i think they are,
with 85 manpower you can kill 10 other c2 ships,
that's a bit much, and the only way to kill them is with
9 standard destroyers,
or
85 fighters
too powerful in my opinion,
it isn't balanced there is no drawback like it destroys two of your own ships or something like that.

yes sporators affect all c1 and c2 ships in both your and enemy fleets.

I don't think Apollo's are too powerful. A fleet of Kami's or pengs or almost any c1 ship can do big time damage and also, Cruisers love to chew them up and spit them out.
Of course with cyclops stacked with them, the C!'s have a little more challange unless you go with evap's or blockade runners.
I do think that there should be some type of ship that works similar to evap's in C2 class but this ship would have to be either expensive and/or fodder for regular destroyers.

Ok, well than i say its balanced, you have the sporators that can add lp and you can beat the apollos back, and there are other setups that can take out apollos.

EDIT: it has no AP so isnt it useless against a c3 fight with just regular cruisers?

I know how to kill an apollo cruiser but for 85 MP you can score a lot.And yet if you want to kill it you need at least 20 regular destroyers to take 1 apollo.
What bothers me with apollo is that no matter how good c2 setup can be apollo will just annihilate it .There are several cyclope resistance ship but not one that is able to define apollo.
I saw pritty awsome c2 setups but was just a waste because 30 apollos can chew any c2 fleet you can come up with.

Note:
T2 i tried to find the ship I was talking about but no luck.I know a newbie from Neutralzone invented it and admin put some 300 of them on planet.
It was c2 blocade runner and I think it costed around 12 mp each.

I certainly agree that there should be a ship in C2 that makes apollo stacks think twice about attacking.
As it is...you see a juicy c2 fleet, no fear...go for the Apollo's. Almost a guaranteed win.
With the protector ship, at least there is a measure of uncertainty and a degree of caution used in attacks.

yes, apollos are awfully powerful with correct application.

Take a fleet with some c1 (just a few anything), a bunch of apollos, a cluster, maybe 3 cloud cruisers, a couple of carriers. This fleet can ride into densely populated areas, and take on maybe 3 or 4 enemy fleets unless they have a lot of c3 in them. And you wouldn't choose c3 targets with this fleet anyway.
Now that those elite fighters are gone, it is very difficult to protect against a fleet like the one above if you have some nice c2.

add a few plasmas and you cant take c2 and c3 and add some flamigo to the mix and you can take on pretty good c1 spam with low losses.

what do you mean there is no nanite e-ray combo?

humans can build both ships. u can use flamingos with nanite tech.

Humans can have eray and nanite tech so apollo and flamingo can be together but that doesnt go for plasma apollo flamingo thou.

You are all correct.

We were just adding stuff from all races. Some combos work, some not. The e-ray/nanite thing was referring to my earlier fleet example.

But both flamingos and plasmas are of course possible. As well as the other stuff. Just not all at the same time

Anyway, there are several ways to protect the apollos, none are failsafe, but some are quite decent.

well i don't think that the apollo is too stong...it's a purpose built ship, like others...apollos can be killed by almost every other ship in c1/c3, and only fires against c2!...if you have little c2 in your fleets, or keep it in one flt and attack with other classes what is the vantage of having a lot of apollos?
the great thing about st it's trying to guess what the opponent is carrying, and adapt your setup to come on top.

For 2200 you can get 25 apollos which will rip apart any c2 fleet.And you still left with 2800 Mp to build backup ships.This means that c2 setups are almost obsolete.
