I would suggest something a little larger, but only a little. I tried making an infobox, but it didn't completely work out. Partially because the picture of the fighter was too big.

i've been thinking about the ship pictures also...dunno if they're copyrighted or not, but they're rather all-over-the-place and lack race specific design. i'm a 2d/3d artist/animator, so if admins are cool with it and i find time from my studies and work then maybe i could redesign them in 3d (special designs for all the races and all ships rendered in the same style and enviroment, so it wouldn't look so eclectic). would take a lot of time though to get them all done. just an idea, so don't take it too seriously, but certainly deserves a discussion.

maybe it isn't the best thread to lay this idea down, but since skyfire mentioned it...

Are you a modeler? I suggested spacetrace to take a modeler on IRC, don't know if he had already...

Senor, most of the pictures were just googled. They are probably copyrighted.

You don't go and copyright something, its either copyrighted, or its not. As soon as you ''create'' something, wether it be on paper, in a word document, a painting, whatever, it is automatically under copyright, unless you say it is isn't. Meaning that as soon as you make a picture, it's copyrighted, meaning most (if not all) those pictures are copyrighted.

As soon as the admin made Spacetrace, it was copyrighted, no extra work required.

By the way, about the infoboxes:

I can't seem to get the lines around them. I've consulted some fellow Pokémon nerds at Bulbapedia, a wiki about Pokémon. It will take about a day or so to get a reply, I think.

Well, the ones that were invented by players tend to have pictures that were googled. That was what I meant.

thats right
most of the ships are free-to-use 3d models of babylon5

@Senor:
it would be great if you start creating new pictures for all ships in one style.
we are searching for someone for a while already, that would like to do that, so please start

we even need a lot of new pictures for the planned spacetrace card game

you can send me some examples, that you made?

Nope, sorry Lowvoice, but everything you create is automatically published ounder the Creative Commons license, that is, if you want to.

Mjx1, you can register your copyright yes. And registering costs cash. If your copyright is registered, but somebody uses it anyway, and you sue the person, the amount of cash you can get is more. But it's still copyrighted, registered or not.

Quote:
How do you get a copyright?
You don’t "get" a copyright; this is a common misconception. You either "have" a copyright or you don’t. If you create something original that is copyrightable, and you "fix" it in some medium of expression (write it down; sing it into a tape recorder; video tape it; etc.) then whatever you created is copyrighted as soon as it is "fixed." If you are writing the great American novel on your word processor, then the novel is being copyrighted as you enter it into your computer. Computer entry, even into the computer’s temporary memory, is usually considered "fixed" enough for copyright purposes, and most definitely is "fixed" when it is saved to a hard disk. If you like to write with a pencil, whatever you write is being copyrighted as it is being written–writing with a pencil is a kind of "fixation."

Of course, if you are copying something created by someone else, then the "something" you are copying is not original to you. Hence you would not be creating a copyrighted work in that circumstance.

So what do people contact the Copyright Office for?
You may, if you like, register a copyright with the Copyright Office. That requires a two-page form and (currently) a $20 fee. But registering a copyright is not the same thing as having a copyright. Remember you have a copyright whenever you fix an original work of authorship–write it down, record it, etc. Registration is handy for a few reasons, though far from essential. If you think you might ever sue anyone for copyright infringement, registering early offers some advantages in the amount of damages you might be able to collect.

I'm writing a walkthrough for Twilight Princess, and if you rip it off, it's still in violation of copyright laws, and I'll still sue your ass, even though it's not registered. But if it were registered, you would have to pay me more. Get it?
