we are ready with programming, but one question left:

the alliances keep their colonies

or

should we reset the colony ownage status

???

this will lead to another question: should we reset the colony ownage status for all alliances at the end of each era?

Seems to me a good idea to reset the colonies each era.

Well i recommend that all colonie status are reset due to the new work being done. This gives more people a fighting chance.

And surely, -TO- has got to come back for this aswell. Just to see if they can beat everyone again lol

Richard.

OOOh... I see a metal/crystal count on the colony screen.

I've made a list of all 28 planets Ive discovered and colonised, and after the colonies are reset, I can colonise them again! They are all in no-mans land, so they are pretty well protected.

Sadly we will lose our colonies on the pulsar and nebula, but we will get around to getting those back up.

info:

there are 3 different troops (there wont be more in the future)
defense guns (not suited for attacks, but very good against tanks and medium good against infantry)
tanks (good against infantry, bad aganist defense guns)
infantry (good against defense guns, bad against tanks)

Add a "planet type" mod to affect this...ex.....in urban, in jungle, in mountain, or any rough terrain warfare...TANKS ARE HORRIBLY INEFFECTIVE (cant move or aim) ON TROOPS WHILE TROOPS DEVASTATE TANKS (via bazookas and other weapons)
Vice versa in the desert or flat terrain (troops got to get well within tank firing range to do anything at all...and then, the tanks run them over rather than waste high caliber shot on them using instead a few extra gallons of low grade diesel...tanks now no longer the ponderous metal hulks but, move at 100 kph).
Also a way of being able to get some intel on the planet defenses is advised, probes, "spies" (perhaps another troop type to send in advance???), whatever......
Without additional mods. such as this, the "ground battles" aspect gets trivialized into just a matter of overwhelming with no strategy involved.
The great flaw in C.T.F. IMHO......

we will add more feature in the future, don't worry. a terrain for planets, which affect the effectivity of troops sounds nice.

But the main thing about colony battles will be the mass of troops an alliance can transport to a planet.

Good idea Microjack, possibly a GoC (Governor of Colonies) position within the alliance.

Will there also be something added like this idea?

Wait, the colonies get reset every era? Aww.... And I was hoping my planets in the middle of nowhere would be property of Sonic-Reign forever...

By the way Twilight Force can't exactly be called a legit winner. Everybody automatically comes in there, so they do not have the troubles of recruiting. Not to mention a lot of them are multi's.

But a third place (largely thanks to me) for Sonic-Reign is nice.

you shouldn't be too active with colonizing right now, the colonies will be deleted with the end of the era in some hours. We uploaded it to test the era end.

I tend to agree KOT David and I went at it non-stop to get that 97 count (and while doing major battles at two score planets).
Taking our effort (47 each and X that by TF membership and lmao, we would have over 3000 colonies which is more than st has pre-warps for).
Notes that 47+ "members" (if you can call them that) only needed to send out a cs to colonize 2 each (and right next to thier bases on start up in the initial SETI scan at that) to bury us in the count. Minimal effort and no skill required.

Looks like us smaller alliances dont have much of a chance in the colony race ? NP, hit their defenseless transports.

* builds her own "top colony winner" and "top alliance list" using player averages and whether members responsible for the scoring started with the alliance and finished with it.

Likes the results much better, IMHO alot more accurate of real skill
gonna add that one to my custom interface

Cant wait to start ambushing the colonization efforts of TF and IG (nonstop too ) They may bury us every round on colony count but IT WILL COST
_______________________________________________________
BTW-where do all the players in TF and IG go after they are trained??? Have not seen any new recuit potentials in almost a year now. Just seems to be breeding ground for "legal multi's" IMHO.

Add to that: naming more prewarps then the rest of ST combined (all 57 california county names used up as well as the names of the 20 or so districts of Timor Leste, + 100 additional pacific rim locations we have either been to, are going to, or just simply interest us) in this effort we probably logged more sectors travelled than the rest of ST combined as well (in 3 weeks at that).

That record is found only by extensive, highly skilled and orgaized archeological probing and coordinate plottig (rather than a single mouse click on alliance/player stats ) but, quite permanent

@KOT: if you want to give away the locations of your named prewarps, colonize them (the coords will then appear in everyones colony list)
Not gonna bother colonizing ours.....so, ST will have to locate them the "old fashion way" 1st

They show up on the colonies list? But their distance should detter some people. And if they do colonize it, they will know that I was the one that discovered it, and that I layed claim to it in the name of Sonic-Reign.

NP KOT.....the sooner they get colonized the sooner they enter into conflicts.
We feel the only way we have been topped in the rounds is due to the massive misuse of loopholes and other ways of fast point gains using often overstated methods recently adddressed by us (multi spammings, temp members, point farming, "psuedo-noobs", mega 10 vet member alliances, lol we seen it all )
Ways that were used before we started and still remain.
And ways that are not gonna work for topping our recent achivement.
There are a few out there (and no longer out there as well) who know exactly what I mean at the least.
When we return from vacation hopefully someone has proved us wrong for a change
