To kill "it" you will probably have to battle the host's base and fleets present as well unless you can get there before it eta's (eta in defensive, switch to code 1st).
Then you need 1000 ap to kill it. The habitat sphere is a c1 so your c1 either need to kill it or be omitted.
A better way is to use holo clones (clone it then kill it) with no c1.
If there is a base and fleets present to battle as well then 2 0 2 1 1's (2 holo clones and a c3) on a simultaneous eta with no c1 and one of them will probably get through and battle 'it' 1st....hopefully....

A funny story on how i engaged "it".
My theory was enough kamis and no berserk can eat them all.. so i took 1200 of them, my recon fleet with the eye in the sky and flew to the guys base.. I parked my two fleets 1sector away but then i couldn't find his coords anymore.. i got confused for a while but then figured he became an "abandoned planet" (inactive for more than 8 days) just after "it" arrived. So i checked my eye reading, saw just the "it" fleet and sent my kamis in for the kill. What i did not know is that when someone becomes inactive his fleets become invisible for probing.. and so it came that my 600 poor kamis battled an armada of ships in 3 fleets+base and of course lost. My evo has ended and the dominion was on its way to my planet.. so i had to move quickly. I still had a live mothership from the kamis and one in the eye fleet + 4 fighters and 4 bounty hunters(and some other wicked but in this case irrelevant stuff).. lol
So i got 2 bounties and 2 fighters into each ship.. the eye was towed along and engaged the bastids hoping a bounty would be able to kill "it". Well this should work in theory, but the practical experiment is yet to be conducted, since both my fleets got entirely wiped out and totaly missed "it".
I lost 4000 points that day and ended my evo in misery.

CURSE YOU IT!
CURSE IT YOU!
IT CURSE YOU!
IT YOU CURSE!
YOU CURSE IT!
YOU IT CURSE!

But... If it becomes an abandoned planet, dont its fleets dissapear? I believe I read that in the manual. So you shouldnt be able to have battled the fleets.

And as the others said, IT can be killed. I saw the movie.

But more seriously, I once fought it, and wiped out some guys base as well, gaining a huge amount of points!

I dont think the habitat sphere is "modifiable" (ex. the cyclops "modifies" lp to 0) and has to be hit with the "fight" command.

it would appear that the habitat sphere deals 1000 damage to every ship that engages it

so

1000 fighters

each fighter takes a hit of 1000

etc

1) 1000 fighters -> losses: 1000 fighters, 1 habitat sphere.... -150 point gain

2) 250 penguins -> losses: 250 penguins, 1 habitat sphere....600 point gain

3) #1 with a 4 commando fighters -> losses 500 fighters, 4 commando fighters, 1 habitat sphere....310 point gain

4) #2 with 4 cf -> losses 125 penguins, 4 cf, 1 hb...685 point gain

5) 2 holo clone ships -> losses, 1 holo clone, 1 hb....838 point gain

best I have gotten with with 1 holo clone and 1 eagle...the holo clone cloned then hit the hb while it killed the eagle for a 848 point gain
