The main question I have regarding the flag incident is, Sparky, where you ganged or was it a 1 or 2 man attack on your base. Were you really ganged as implied earlier or was it a small operation.
A ganging of any more than 2 people would indicate high potential of multiple accounts and, in my opinion, scans should automatically be done and warning letters sent out requesting they play with 1 account only.

As I stated somewhere else, scans should automatically be done on everyone who enters into either of the welcome alliances looking for IP matches.
Valid excuses or reasons could be privately exchanged between the IP checker and the possible offender and a decision made right at that moment.

At least, then, the serial offender knows he must stop or risk banishment and it demonstrates seriousness on the part of the administration to enforce the rules to everyone who offends ...even the "experimental" offenders who try it just to see if they can ! There are a few of those out there as well.

Hmm.. if you go away for one or two weeks for vacation.. don't you move the flag over to an active player?
..just a thought..

(LMAO)

Oh.. and I agree with T2.. I've been wondering about the missing IP check system ever since I first heard about the mutli problem.
I'm sure it would stop a lot of them.. I just don't see "professional multis" emerging, using proxy servers to hack into ST and.. well multi lmao

I was away for 2 days. Within this time was hit by the nearest newbie to me who had HQ invaders.

I was a lame not to move the flag, but hey 2 days I wasnt too woried about losing the flag and even if another alliance did get it... no problem just means a bit of a war which is ALL good, lots of points available.

The problem was it was TF with 40 members that hit us!!. (Also not a big problen only need 2 hits with alliance invaders to get the info I needed)

...Any way T2:

Was not multied against.
(I'm sure I did not say I was bashed by multis earlier. Some one else assumed that)

The flag is back by the way. And the newbie who got it is going to get his A.ss spnked ...naughty boy

Well Sparks...that is good to hear
In that case, I take my hat off to joehughes of caladon who shows initiative and desire to learn the game. Pulled off a successful heist on his own and probably learned stuff from it.
At least he knows how HQ Invaders work now

Cannot blame him for that ! That's what the game is about .

It wasnt Joe,
It was a guy called Assen of Assen.

Yep he is learning the game well. Used a scout to probe me first, then brought in his main fleets.

Also all u newbies even though he used about 10 dreads + 4 apollos he left in some class 1s to stop my kamikazes and bountys..not bad

Is there any way to put a time limit on being in the starting alliance?

When you start, you're protected for 2 days, but can it be set that once you've been playing for a month, or so, you get kicked out of the starting alliance, and you have to join a combat alliance?

That way, veterans couldn't hide out in the starter groups. And the New players wouldn't get punished when this kind of thing happens.

A time limit was talked about when the starter alliances were first conceived but observations show that different players evolve at different rates of knowledge.
Also, there have been "Alliance member shopping" that has taken place in the IG. Some by former players who evo into the alliance, shop for active membership and then leave when they have enough for an alliance. Also there is the Fallen Warriors and No-Stars who are comprised of almost all new players. It would have been much harder for either of these alliances to accomplish if "recruitment time" was limited.
Putting a time limit on this type of activety is counter productive to the desirable goal of having more alliances in the game.
It is certainly open for debate however, most players don't stick around for very long soon as they know their way around.
Same with experienced players. They don't hang around at all because eventually, their coords would be known to the leadership via the CoW station.

If I were to send a fleet with some hq invaders, to a planet, which had an alliances flag, and wasnt very heavily defended, Id have a reasonable chance of getting it.

By the way, If anyone takes our flag again, we might just start a crusade after all.

I would have taken your guys flag a long time ago if i only had one sonic coord. I was sweaping the densly populated areas with wide-range scan probes.. where the heck are you guys? lol

So far a only found one flag ..it got a special place on my wall

aaaanyway.. since a part of this game is stealing flags.. how about if every alliance could have a public alliance page with some info and a flag picture. And when it's taken they get an ugly X lmao

LOL Our flag probably wasnt far off from u actually.

The eras ending in a couple of weeks so cant be arsed with a flag war.

But come the new era how about a bit of war between SR and NS? Get the new era off with a bang. Say, set the initial battle to be around one of the score planets and see where it heads from there.

KoT and the rest of the guys have been coordinating well and I've hardly had a battle in the last few weeks what with exams and RL. So they did really well. A little war will give experience to both our sides.

Nah...finding Flags is part of the dark tactics of the game. Use alliance and com invaders to infiltrate your enemies.

Once you steal a flag make a BIG post on the forum.

I'm not saying that the position of the flag should be public..
just that every alliance would deserve it's logo on a more visible part of the game

AKA...experimental offenders who got banned from other games already or perhaps got too much "competition" in a race to create the most multi's in the game ...as a rule: seems the general noob start up IS a multi alliance lately and vets respawning "undercover" as noobs make them much harder to find .... scanning all incoming noobs will help though but, gonna take "mp" from someone who, will have to do it daily.

Yes.... currently lots of 'MP' needed to do something like this but it would be fairly effective I think.
The Starter alliance's need re-working so IP scans are done automatically and alerts generated whenever duplicates are detected.

I think the whole starter thing could be refined into some type of security gate and welcoming center for new players which does a better job at screening abusers and providing a "first contact" for new players.
More automation also means 1 person could administer it much easier.
1 person administration in this sort of scenario could, as mentioned before, provide guidanc for first battles. Guidance meaning arranging 1st battles asap between active new members.
I think many new accounts die out because of lack of action within the first day or 2 of a new account.
This might raise the continuation rate of new spawns from 5-10 % up a few points.

I agree.

When I first started, I did some research, didnt exactly know how to send probes, and got bored. Then someone, I believe he was in Space Rangers or something like that, got me into an alliance. That was what spurred me to keep going. I believe it was TLC, battling against Defiance and The Flying Dutchman.

And the starter alliances are getting out of hand. They need improvement, and they should have the ability to vote for their leader removed, becuase we dont want renegade noobs/newb taking precious mp we need to attack vets or hold the scoreplanets.

look

stop this damn topic now

you had your flag taken by a new player alliance

yes

its unexpected

but at the end of the day

so what?

there should be no changes to any rules

sparks should of sent the flag to another member of the alliance if he KNEW he was going to be on vacation.

thats one of the first things i learnt in my training.

so yeh.....lets leave it now.

CHILL man,

you always seems so uptight.

If you notice we left the SR flag convo several posts ago.

I already admitted my mistake (a point on this even if I had set to change the flag to another alliance member before I left, it would have taken too much time. I would have got hit before it got fully changed.)

But I agree time to end and lock off this thread.

Somebody post up a new topic/thread.

How about you Vrictus.
