I just started working with photshop since yesterday I already made my first picture and i would like your opinions

i made this one half an hour ago
i have one question how do you make pictures come outside it's borders cause i didn't want the red background you see around the blue background

about this picture i had one where the ship flies and there is also a DA and it get's destroyed like a mini battle between shadow star and DA but i didn't know how to save it so i saved it as a regular picture if
so somebody explains me how i can save them, upload them and put them here in the forum i would be very thankfull

there's 2 options to make the picture appear to come outside it's borders..
1. make the background transparent; easiest way to do that is selecting a tranparent background when starting the picture, it's the bottom option on the "new" screen. You'll need to save the picture as a gif, as jpeg doesn't support it..
or 2. simply make your background correspond to the background of the page your putting it on.... which isn't really an option here on the forum as people use different forum colors

This is really good stuff Phoenix. 
Idea:
The 'Where one ship determins the battle' could be the banner on ST's main menu, or prehaps on an advertisment, with a hyperlink, or something like that.
Is this a good idea?

you can't less around with my pics cause you don't have the PSD file

maybe you can create some pictures for our spacetrace mugs?
it should be in the size 7cm x 20 cm and have 300dpi (not 72dpi, which is normal on the weg)
the cups have white background and the picture will go all the way round it
it should have the spacetrace logo in it and the URL.
but both can be small, it should look nice in the first place |

I have been wanting to order some ST coffee mugs to help support the game.
Also...If I'm going to battle -TO-, I'll need the coffee to make sure I stay awake long enough to do my battles on-line |
