I like the idea of reduced research time,it has a lill effect ingame. It could also be reduced to that point that you would be able to research all tech in one evo.Or lets say dollar per foreign tech and 5 to decrease all research times for 30 or something %. But I would add more ships on prewarps to even it out.Not too much of them couse it would be abused. And reduced research time would go good with extending your evo time for some time(but not more then 5 to 7 days)since you would be able to play fully researched for some time.
An extra probe slot maybe would be good but im tottaly against extra fleet slot it gives you too much edge.
Selection of your address, also good one just radius around score planets has to be set up(at least 6h with warp5).
Maybe even if paying player could research tech from third race, but only limited tech research(1 or 2 ships).Even now human can pick up cyclops on prewarp,so wouldnt matter much.
You could setup a market place were some of the things could be bought with points throu market, but with limited trades(3 trades per evo).In order to get to the market you should pay some $,for those who cannot afford it other player would be able to pay in exchange for points. But also with some restrictions, like points gain via market place dont count for alliance score. So this way people would be able to gain suporter status with real money or by being good player and exchanging points for it(something like this is implemented in this other game i play and it works great)
Im tottaly against :
-extra MP
-faster MS,no need for them, noone would pay for faster MS with drawbacks
-no special ships or weapons,or adding AP/LP to existing ships
-instant rebuilding(maybe but it would have to be one of the most expensive things on the market)
-getting bonus points in battles

Admin...I'm going on a little holiday and I need someone to keep my research going....Give you 5 bucks if you'll put in...just for me... a research cue.
That would be handy while I'm gone

P.S. All of Faltrips comments are valid considerations. Despite the best intentions of not changing the game, paying cash other than kind hearted donations, requires value for dollar. How do you achieve this ? Well maybe special services admin could sell but it still gives an advantage no matter how you swing it. Not perhaps directly in someone's ability to compete but it must have value for a dollar or it won't work. Maybe think along the lins of having to spend less time and effectively compete. Stuff like purchased "instant prewarp scans" or ..ummm...the example above I jokingly remarked to Admin.

admin i have an idea

have u ever tried one of those mass mailing things? its kinda like the invite a friend to st button

a lot of websites (bebo for example) use them all you have to do is type you email address and password into perhaps the preference page or something and it will automatically send everyone in your contact list a email about spacetrace

ive got about 90 contancts on my hotmail email

90 x 21 = a possiblility of 1890 credits

also surely u must use databases? perhaps u can just email old players telling them about the latest updates to the game i mean i know that seems a bit spammy but im sure itll be fine

thats all for now

greetz

hmm also try adding a lot of spacetrace terms etc to search engines, and make sure that you keep the hit rate up

maybe placing a banner on the login site here too, and let the community click on it !

Lowvoice, those mass mailing lists are officially considered spamming. Spam is illegal in the EU.

So if you are in a very scumback mood, you can trial all these people who ever send you chain-e-mails. This is just official and I doubt that anybody who goes to court with this story will get what he wants, but I don't think our admin wants to break laws.

For The Game to start earning money there should be at least 1000 active players or one who has some money to spare every month or so.We all had our propositions and had our little propaganda campaigns on other game forums but with little succsess. At least i had little, there were around 10 newly created accounts and not even one ended his evo.
Out there there are numeros stupid clicking, collect resourcers game with thousands of players and yet ST is here with maybe 100 active accounts. What is reason for this?Dunno maybe game is to complex, maybe its even stupid(doubt),dunno really.
So i have come to some idea how to attrack more people. They may be stupid and you may call it stupid but i dont give a s.hit so here are they.
Since rounds are back we could have cash awards for best players etc.Not like admin would have to give the price. How i see this money tournament is like this.If you wanna compete for real money you need to deposit 10$ which some of it will go to admins fond.Heck there could be even duels for money betwen two players winner takes it all.Not really all of it,some small precentage will be given to ST administration. But this one is a lill stratche out I know but that just poped in my head and it may have some legislation problems.
Second one i have is drasctic one.Change name of the game to some popular since fiction movie, series etc.I found this game when i was searching for Star trek web-based game.So lets say ST would be called Star trek there would be like at least hundred of newly opened accounts in short period of time. There is a lot of trekies out there. And there wouldnt be almost any change in rase etc. There are at least five rases in Star trek including Q rase in replacing Dominion. And im aware of leggal issues that this would cause but with some friendly send emails all can be done.
For finances i gave market solution(well actualy i borowed it from other game) and its explained above.

if you give money for dueling, like winner takes all, thats gambling cause it largely depends on the random factor. You would have to be 18 or above in most countries, and there is no way you could prove you are 18. Heck, i said im 13 or up when i entered the forum (i was thinking: i dont fall under american law *** america) I wonder if there is a law in the EU that is the same, if so, i will immeditaly get another acoutn and ask permissiion this time. anyway, this game isnt about gambling, dueling for money is out of the question for me.

This one just poped in my head as i was writing this.I just added in.
For the rest ST doesnt really on luck.At least i dont count on luck when i play.If you do well thats why you cant score much...Its all about tactics not luck, not random factor(unless you are fighting multiple fleets, but that also can be bypassed).
Cash tournaments arent new in this kind of games, its just those games which have awards implemented give a paying player much more advantage as here would be given. There if you dont pay,you may stop playing.

This probaly isn't the best idea, but how about a competition?

With a quiz about ST, Players who would enter would have to pay like 50p, then whoever wins could get more MP than everyone else for a bit, or on there new account.

There is about 225 active players on ST, approxamelty 130+ might take part. 50 x 130 = £65.00.

The prize would be free, but you would have to set up a quiz page, and I don't know if that costs anything.

But £65.00 equals two months of server, with a bit left over for the admins!

the space and bandwidth is perfect already for our needs.

anyway, spacetrace will move to a new even faster and a bit cheaper server soon, at the same company. we will use the server for more projects then.

i got another idea..

ok you know how you can buy credits and make wormholes?.. well this idea is like that..

My idea is you should add a feature that allows you to build a "temporary secondary score planet" with the same ship you use to make wormholes you can now make small score planets for a small fee of 250 credits. Now it would be quite the task to just collect credits if you dont donate (you would have to kill 'It' at least 18 times)..

and it doesnt have to be just 250.. you could make it 300 or 200..
then you could make add this score planet to the Alliance Stats and then people would know where it is..

And another idea that came to mind.. you could make people pay for letting them choose their coords.. say i want my coords at 400/400/40 just so no one can attack or find me, that'll be $5.. but if i want my coords to be near the Black Hole at 510/510/50, well then that should be more expensive, so that cost me $20..

ill keep writing my ideas if i come up with more

i like this idea. we will do that for you if you donate the money.

your idea with the small score planets for a small fee of 250 credits is worth a discussion. i am not sure, if it would be good for the game, i will start a discussion here in the forum:
http://www.spacetrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5445

anyway, if you donate money to st, you will get a lot of tcredits already, we stated this before:

it doesnt necessarily have to be 250 credits.. i dont know how much credits you get if you donate.. like what if i were to donate 30 dollars? how many credits could that get me? you could make it higher like 1000 credits..
personally i would donate myself if i had just a little bit more money and if i had a way to pay.. when your 16 years old you can do anything... maybe i could send a letter with money in it

Okay, this might be a bit old topic, but how about making a book of the ST stories and selling it on cafepress.com?
