From reading the manual, the way I understand that "warp" works in this game, is that the mothership opens a hyperspace window, and basically all the smaller ships in the fleet then pass through this window and fly at high speed.

From a number of references in the manual, it says that the bigger a warpfield is, then the faster the fleet will go. So the actual physical warpfield will be larger in size if its warp 7 compared to the smae window that is warp 5.

If this is so, then if two motherships are in the same fleet would they not both generate a hyperspace window, thus making it twice as large (making the warp speed twice as fast).

Maybe I'm taking this game a bit too literally, but I mean shouldn't this be true?

Well, it does seem logical.

no, the problem is, there can be opened only one hyperjumpgate in one fleet and the ships may not interfere with each other. so only one ship openes the gate.

you see that it is a very complex process where the smallest interference can lead to failure. for example the flying sourcers can only open a warpfield for themself, one other vessel already distracts their warpfield and thay fall back to normal space

you think too hard Ehltas kinda like those people who allways talk about the plot holes in the film or the fact that in one scene the actors got a white shirt then the next his got a green one

i suggest that you write pseudo scientific papers about hyperphysics and warp technology and send them to us . We will publish thme in our Scientific magazine:

Spacetrace Scientific Papers (SSP)

we accept papers about
*hyper physics
*genetic engineering
*advanced technologies
*plasma physics
*quantum field theory
*chemistry
*hypno technology
*particle and beams

do not forget to add the correct citations and mathematics

here is the first paper:
the correlation between warp field size and fleet speeds
by dipl phys Spacy tracy
the myth of warp speed / bubble size correlations has been disproved. after measuring the bubble size ( B )with a quantum field warp bubble rerenderer [ADM 201, s. 32] and exact measurement of the speed ( V ) of an average kazuuula fleet at several speed values , we found no correlation between B[m] and V[wrp].
We guess that the myth is founded on a adverting campain of a big-bubble-warp-manufacturer.
we are sure that the warp speed depends on many more factors than just B[m]. or we could conclusivly say: quality counts , not quantity !
Further researches are highly recommended.
