Ive been on for a few days now. I have done some attacks, or shoud I say got my arss kicked!! I'm like -4000 some odd points. Is this normal for a nob? Do I just keep advancing in technology to a point where I can start winning some battles? Heck whats up? _________________ Phoenix? But its a dry heat!! |

Well -4000 you sound like me from when i first started. Aslong as your not multying though im sure i could make way for a noob to be trained in APEmpire if you wish we have me and another very good player in the alliance although i have my suspicions that hes played before lol.
Well if you wish to join just tell me your ingame name and i will get u tag and pass asap. _________________ APEmpire |

I too thought that increasing tech would increase my chances of winning battles when I first started and logically, it is sound thinking.
Unfortunately that is not quite the case although you are partially right.
The problem I had was the higher tech ships also cost more but they are more specialized in thier job. As a result, I lost even more points than I did with basic ships. After I started using mostly basic ships with a few specialized ships mixed in, I started to break even on my battles and even win a few.
Then I made the mistake of thinking I could wound enemy ships with 1 fleet and then finish them off with a second fleet. Wrong again.... ships that are not completely destroyed in battle are back to full strength for the next battle.
Things started to come together for me when I started to actually read the battle syntax for ships I had researched/ built . Then I looked for ships that compliment each other in a fleet and try combining them along with mostly basic ships.
The final thing I had to do was get the battle order correct in the fleet classes for my set-ups. Having a good understanding of how the different fleet classes fight and the order in which they fight was the final thing I had to learn. I still get the order completely backwards sometimes and I get a refresher lesson on occassion.
Hope this helps you and don't forget, people with stars by thier name are there to help you and give advice on your set-ups and anything else you may need.
The big thing is to just enjoy the battles and there is now a battle simulator where you can go and try out different combo's and see the result before you actually go to battle. Spending a few hours there will probably help you considerably in seeing results of different battles.
Good Luck to you

Thanks for the help. I suppose I can't just jump into this game and kick butt without RTFM! like I normally do in games. It seems its always the case with me. I am excited to start games and only later after I can't figure out something, thats when I read the manual.
But ST is better because of the vets here and willing to help, Thanks to all who are willing to help out the Nobs. _________________ Phoenix? But its a dry heat!! |

Take a look at this thread and get a crash course to what you may not have figured out so far.
Conejo started about 6 weeks ago and a nice thread was developed to answer his questions

You can also ask the players with a Star behind their names for help .
They are NooB helpers (at least they should be ) look in your comlist and ask them , they can give you advice in what to build , what to research first and so on .
