Can you use the "defense" attitude to mass invading fleets at a planet you want to attack? A player attacked a planet with his attitude set for "defense" and now it shows him as defending that planet. The planet that was attacked had ships that didn't attack the invader because the invading player is "supposedly" now defending the planet he invaded. Can that tactic be used to mass a bunch of fleets at a planet and then have all those fleets coordinate a time to switch to attack attitude and make a massed attack on the planet. With the invading fleets set with the "defense" attitude there is no way to attack the invading fleets and remove them as they show up. That just doesn't seem right to me. If that's the case that seems like a major flaw in the system and puts the planet being invaded at a huge and unfair disadvantage.

it can be used but if the guy who s getting invaded has fleets which aren t on defence mode they ll fight. and besides it s not a good idea, firstly because it s better to know the order of the battle sequence and secondly because there would be a 24hr battle pause before any battles can occur when the attack code is inserted

so the trick would be to keep a fleet at your home planet and not just have ships at the base since the base is always set on defense. That way you have a fleet defending your home planet that is either set on attack or else has the attack code of your alliance and then the tactic of massing forces at planet you want to attack using defense mode wouldn't work. Is that correct?

It actually doesnt make a difference.

Once the fleet arrives, even if it is on defense, you have battlepause for a day.

It would be better called "interaction pause". Once two fleets recognize that each other are there, they have battlepause.

Even a cloaked fleet. When I first started, I thought I could arrive at a planet cloaked, and then decloak and fight when I wanted to. I was wrong.

So there is really no way to take advantage of this...probably

thanks, that clears some things up. I just couldn't figure out what the guy was up to and that was all I could think that he may be doing. Just seems kind of a weird thing to do, but I figured there must be some reason to do that.....any ideas what that reason might be?

Well, he could actually be defending the planet, but I think you wouldnt post if that was the reason.

Maybe he forgot to put his code in? When your fleet is completely wiped out, the code comes out of it and the fleet is set to defense by default. I have messed up this way several times, and fought allies and didnt fight enemies. It is a really crappy feeling to set up two fleets for an attack, and leave your clearing fleet on defense accidentally

there are many tactics involving defense. For example, if you dont want to fight base fleet, just go into battle in defense attitude to battle any other fleet in the sector. It may fail when the enemy has all the fleets in defense.

But rember if your in an alliacne and you use the alliance attack code set you will not attack your alliance members base when going there.
