If I have a shadow star which cloakes my whole fleet, the manual says that means my fleet cant attack. So what's the point of it!?!?!? Does the NME im attacking have to have decloaking probes to see my fleet so they can attack my shadow star which would fully uncloak my fleet and then I can fight, or is cloaking a fleet for another reason altogether? And if they dont have decloaking probes does that mean I would just sit there waiting forever invisible? |

Yes the enemy has to decloak you to fight, likewise you have to decloak to fight them, kind of like romance
A deep scan probe can tell you a cloaked fleet is in the vicinity and whether the fleet is small medium or large, but otherwise you are invisible. i dont believe you show on incomings either, not sure on that point !!!
The point is the enemy can't tell whether you have say a strong fighter fleet, or a strong destroyer fleet, and plan their stategies accordingly.
Having said that, I have never used shadows, I think they use too much mp |

What Dougster said is absolutely right (maybe except for the mp thing; you can discuss it).
But I want to add that they wouldn't attack your shadow star because they can also fight you when your fleet is cloaked, only you can't fight them. |

what do you mean with this?
certainly they can NOT attack you when your fleet is cloaked.
the only thing that happens, if your cloaked fleet meets another fleet is that these two fleets cannot fight for another 24 hours (battlepause) not even if they decloak. |

Hi SirTaz,
I remember that battle, but I wasn't sure then and I'm not sure now that our fleets met 24 hours ago. (Due to my bad memory I'm not sure though).
Anyway, I have tested the shadows myself recently and battlepause does comences when a cloacked fleet first meet another fleet.
@Hobbie : you can manually cloack/decloack a fleet with a shadowstar. (So it's your decision whether to fight the enemy or not )
@doughster : I thought they were rather sheap |
