Dear Admin,
Lately i am noticing that the forum is getting full of nonsense. I discussed this with other players on IRC, and some of us are willing to volunteer for like a moderating function on this forum, offcourse there need to be rules set for moderaters, and i know you would like the space society to solve problems, well maybe see this as the society trying to reach out a helping hand.
Offcourse you have a RL and can't put all your time in ST, but at first i think a lot of players would REALLY appreciate if admin reacts at bug reports more, sometimes it takes ages for you to react and people wait and get frustrated. It is that i know that you look into it, and saw it. But mostly the one that posted it does not know that, so a little: "thank you for your bug report, we will look into it" will make a lot of players feel less frustrated. a little effort. And makes players feel that they are listened to happy faces that is what we need. Even is the problem is allready known, or if it takes a long time to solve it, just a little note that you saw the message does make a lot more players feel appreciated, and that is what we need, cause they only tried to help with posting it.
As a second i would like to say that a lot of posters i liked on this forum stopped posting because of all of the useless postings and impossible inventions, and the postings all over the wrong topics. I am volunteering as a moderator to try and get a bit more structure in the forum, and i know more people who would want to do so aswell. Offcourse a moderator can't stop everything and sure you would need more then one, but we are willing to help you out, and make space and forum a better galaxy.
So please consider this suggestions and think about it.
one free hint, if an admin reads it, just post that you have read it. and maybe thinking it over.. or not.
I hope i have made my point clear. Greets

I agree with Gorth, but I think he already posted everything essential and I would be just spamming by posting something like "Yeah, I totally agree". I just felt like that I neeeded to post something to let you know that I feel exactly like him

sure .. you are right
my computer was broke and i need to install a new one
it would be nice if there are some moderators (two are already active )
help is welcome , but we need to be sure that it will help spacetrace ... so there are no rules needed for the moderators , just something like trust ...
p.s. spacetrace is always under the pressure of www-stupidity

Gorth,
Your suggestion about adding some moderators to the forum sounds like a really good idea.
It would stop people such as myself from spamming.
Yes, i admit it i spam.
But most of the time i don't even know i am spamming.
Moderators would be brilliant.
They could point out where people are going wrong in forum or where, old topics have been re-opened.
Perhaps even some sort of red flag system?
You break the rules five times and you get a suspension from the forum?
Yes I am all for this idea.
The forum has gone really crap lately, and people like myself and zzz have to blame.
Moderators (and lots of them) would prevent this.
Admin. I think you should do this.
Yours sincerely,
Methi.
Merry christmas. |

not much to say they are right
lets get the forum cleaner
and for the spammer give them just a chapter called spamming so they still can have theire fun
still moderators are needed to get the messages in the right chapter

Thanks for the reaction admin, and i am sure u know where to find me if you want to.
Methi thank you for stating that aswell, if people see their own mistakes it's better then when a moderator has to kick in, but as you say, moderators can give hints
Greets and a merry christmas

I have been moderating the Forum for some time.
Since I made a post the other day requesting less bad language a number of players got upset.
As I understand it, the Forum has always been moderated, as most are.
But I dont think it is the role of moderators to answer questions, bug like or whatever. |

@Mr. Spacely
Gorth explains 2 problems here:
1. Admins not responding to bugs or suggestions
2. n00b attack on the forum
For the second one he volunteers to be op and so solve the problem.

I think it is a good idea.
But what do you think is nonsense posting? Do u want to delete the Of-topic part?
Cause in other parts, there is mostly just discussions about ST.
There are two options:
1 U should not clean up the forum, u should just replace topics( for example, about pictures of Shade) and place them in the Of-topic part.
2 Delete the Of-topic part, together with nonsense topics. |

Off-topic is there to poste nonsense, but loads of people post recruitments in general discussions, bug reports in suggestions etc. and are spamming topics with useless posts. that is what i mean. off-topic should not dissapear.

but I also think by having too much control people would mostly post boring stuff which would let the forum die out that's why I'm for a bit of control, but it shouldn't be over done or we woud have to make a topic called something ike "jokes, weird stuff and dumb ideas" |

So the point is just to change the place of the most topics and to look at it that nowhere is a flamewar of spamstuff or someting in that matter. Just, close those topics etc. there are a whole bunch topics of that. And rules about no swearing and the consequences of that (i don't know if that already excist, excuse me if that already is there) like temporarily banned or something.... That is what i would like to say about it....

..Yes Sir NO Sir A bucket full of Poo Sir...
Thats my honest opinion...
Belgium's recruiting policemen if anyone feels the utter need to control...
...looking forward to an utterly boring forum...
Have fun setting up more rules...lalalalalalalalalalallalalalalalala
especially Kame...application came in fast lol
The only thing suggested I agree upon is an answer from admin even to just say I will read your mail...and in the case that they cannot then they could appoint a highly qualified player to answer technical stuff lol
Take away my freedom of speech and ban me...it wont happen in my escape from reality life, namely spacetrace...so it'll mean one player less it's so very simple.
The actual game and the forum is a marriage.
And if I post a technical question, then I would want to believe that the reply given to me is correct without any doubt...
Next suggestion will probably be speed controls in the galaxy...

I don't think there will be any banning, there will probably be another moderator or two, they will either take a harder line or softer line than me.
We dont want to curtail your freedom of speech, just keep everything ok for everyone. |

As i have to explain to turiana, i do not mean operators to go and do policework, just for putting new topics under the correct places and let people know when they spam e.g. i have never said anything about banning people or shutting them, i to agree with freedom of speech, it is just that some topics could be posted on other places and some people might be adviced in their postings.
