Would it be possible if we could have a "Stop Research" button on the research screen? It would mean that if you wanted to change a research quickly you could just press the button and stop the Research in Progress?

Yes this topic has been discussed several times, please search the forums before you post suggestions. It won't be implemented, as admin says: your scientists are a fanatic bunch of people they won't stop researching till they reached satisfying results.
