Im a newbie. And I think, this is a f**** game!
What happens? An other player comes and destroy my whole fleet. No chance, he has a mutch better technology (of corse, I'm a newbie since 3 days). OK, I build a new fleet. Tha same, he destroy my whole fleet.
On this way he is on 2. place in the score-list.
So, the sense of this game is to destroy the newbies. Make that fun?
For a newbie definite not! That'a a f**** game (f**** dosn't mean funny!)
If you don't like new players, that's OK. But please write it in big, red lettres on the entry page!!!!

this game is about confrontation..
battles are the game core. it is allowed to attack noobs , because noobs has the possiblity to fight back because they can get new and powerfull technologies from tec planets.
if the attacker is your neighboor you should try to make a peace treaty.
if possible try to get friends who can hellp you. |

LOL...As a noob, I suffered a destroyed fleet and base from the #1 player (at the time) and 2 days later did an advance high speed assault on his base w/ his fleets approaching me again. 50% skill and 50% dumb bloody luck and I totally wiped his fleets and stargate.
He retaliated two days later to wipe me again but, I sure got over on him one time.
A truce is now in effect and we have earned alot of respect for each other as well.
This is a fantastic game!!! |

Some players indeed like n00b bashing, that can be dealt with, try to get into a alliance or make friends, it is not that difficult to do so, then you can make yourself strong, and retaliate, or talking with the one attacking you and explaining you are a n00b and ask for advise maybe has also often good effect, as far as i know.
There are a lot of honorable players in this game who are willing to help you, either on tactics, or adopt you in their alliance.
I will be back in play in about 2 weeks, if you still have trouble around that time, feel free to contact me.

Noobie bashers are a comodity that, after stupidity and eagles are plentiful in Spacetrace. I abhore their tactics. It's not much fun when you're a noob; I got vaped continuously by a top player when I began (I was crap!). In case you havn't been around the net trying out other games, it's the same in all other games. Spacetrace is the only game I play now because it has a great community. The noobie bashers are a necessary evil and they give the galaxy character; ST has it's own 'good guys' and 'bad guys'. It wouldn't be as much fun without them, as they give righteous crusaders like me, and all other honourable players a target-rich environment!
It is hard to beat someone who has the technological edge over you, but thats what researches are there for! Don't get downheartened; persevere! With a few carefully chosen researches you can hold your own against a much more advanced opponent. Don't forget that you can delete your account and restart. I think that I had 3-4 accounts before I felt I had gained enough experience to call myself a regular.
I've just restarted ST after a four week holiday and I'm not doing anything at the mo as I'm not in an alliance. Message Whirlwind of Sagitarius V ingame and I'll see if I can help you. Send your coordinates and the coordiantes of your attacker, if possible with a battle report or 2. Keep up the fight!

There really is no such thing as a technological edge, as far as ships are concerned. The only real "needs" in the beginning are your twg and dsp researches.
The basic ships can kick some royal @$$ when used properly. With an equal ratio of ships, same class vs same class, basic ships win almost all of the time. Lower verses higher are also very good odds for basic ships. You just have to know (or educated guess)what you are up against.
As far as the ship researches are concerned, only a couple key researches are necessary to design a strong fleet. Last round, all of the researches I used for the whole round I had done within a few weeks. The rest of the time I just researched ships because I could, not because I wanted, or ever used them.
I dont like n00B bashers either, they are a complete waste of time. They run when good player's fleets are nearby, and they just go for n00Bs, over and over. I was pissed at one guy last round (Hi, you know who you are), and he wouldn't fight me, because he had to fight his n00B, who kept building the same fleet and was getting whipped daily by him. I tried unsuccesfully to catch his fleets at his homeworld, when he rebuilt ships, for over four days before I just gave up on him. What fun is that?
I will gladly defend any n00B that asked for defense from a parasitic thug. Stick and move, people! |
