excuse my late reply to this, i've just read through this topic for the first time today.

An offer you can't refuse is correct. Total Ownage began last year around may? june?, when a friend of mine (sola of tha system) discovered Space Trace while looking for an online game that we could play together, as i was living in belgium at the time with a very small PC and him in Denmark (where i lived previously). so we couldn't play any of our usuel fisrt person shooter games.
Of all the games we had searched through we found the SpaceTrace game play to be far supieror to any other web based game.
I immediatly started the Alliance Total Ownage, and got to work convincing my real life friends and a few online friends to join me. I carried over the name of Total Ownage from the game alot of us used to play : Rogue Spear - in which we were the #1 and/or one of the top 5 clans in the world for almost 4 years. I lead this Rogue Spear clan along with my online friend Alex, who you all might know as "Sittin On The Dock of The Bay", who was also the founder of the name !! Total Ownage !! .

I managed to gather and convince around 8 friends to join me in spacetrace. We started out ok for n00bs, in our first(and only) round we managed a score of around 40,0000 i beleive(i can't remember exactly). it wasn't even a full round, maybe a couple of months top.
Of course our tactics were rather strange, or a bit BORG'ish u might say, using our advantage of communication to lay siege on planets in quite some numbers. we would fly around space together destroying planet after planet lolol
it got us in quite a bit of trouble, coincidently with the Alliance which was lead by mr. An offer you can't refuse, and we enjoyed our first yet brief War. which ended through endless negiotations between myself and An Offer, who today is a good friend of mine, and just happens to riside 520ly from me

Naturally as the round went on, we grew in experience and our tactics became a bit more refined.
Unfortunatly at the end of that round, or maybe a few weeks before. I once again decided to travel back to Denmark, and was unable to be online for quite a while. thus i quit Space Trace.
Alot of the other members also decided to quit when i was gone (lost without their leader)
thus was the downful of Total Ownage.
although a few remained, namely Turiana, KEPcH and Base. who i'm sure you all know well.
Base going onto be quite mr. popular in ST with his endless IRC chats and posting, not to mention his ST ability, he has become one of the best players out there in my opinion. His confidence and determination is down right scary!!
I'm told he restarted TO a couple of times while i was away, but i don't know to what end.

Then 3 Months ago in April, Base and Turiana came to Denmark to visit me, and naturally during the time we were home at my place they would check their Spacetrace accounts.
And of course that was enough for me, i was bitten by the spacetrace bug and decided to make my big return.
So once more i called upon my respective friends and asked them to join me in Spacetrace, one by one they agreed, and so we all came back. This time with a little more experience and understanding, and a determination to show the ST community the True meaning of TOTAL OWNAGE
Turiana, Kepch and Base, soon releived themselves of their ties with other alliances and once more rejoined us in our quest for the top spot.
With our full original team back, we set out to acheive a place among the top alliances of SpaceTrace,
Adding a few new additions to the team along the way.
and me on my personal vendetta to proove a point and beat the highest player score ever acheived.

As you may all have noticed, we arrived back on the scene this "round" making quite an impact claiming the rank 1 spot for a while and sitting in 2nd place for the rest of time.
To this day 7 of the 9 members of Total Ownage are personal friends of mine.
of course with this new everlasting round system, our score will drop considerabley in the next week, as alot of us started around the same time. But most of us will be back, this time it will be a little different.. but thats whole other story.

So can it be done to start your own alliance straight away? Indeed it can.
I thought i would share our story with you all, to hopefully inspire people to start your own n00bie alliances and get your friends here to spacetrace!!!

But may I just correct that I've always been true to Total Ownage and never joined any other alliance?

bravo indeed!! but you must realize not everyone is as talented committed or have gaming experience as you do. certainly some individuals will find success by starting alliances right away but that is not always the case. anyways, your story is great still. what a success story!! maybe ours will one day rival yours (with more time elapsed though, unfortunately) =)
