I just want to know the oppinion of yours spacetrace players...

What do you really think about this new ships thing?

(It's just an oppinion pool, i didn't mean to ruin the idea of what admins want of this game, neither being inpolite with anybody who likes the picking new ships thing...)

It's not really ruining the game, but it's getting too ordinary. Their are ships enough for now, there should be new other challenges, concerning the gameplay. But i still love to play it.

there r a lot of ships out there, and i find it quite confusing sumtimes with all the possibilities. i think that there r certainally enough ship types out there to ensure plenty of tactical flexibility. what i feel the game lacks is some kind of experience pts for ur fleets. im thinin a bit like it is in the 'total war' series, where the generals of ur various armies get an 'honour' rating, depending on the battles theyve won and lost. high honour ratings confer a bonus to the army they r commanding. i know its a pretty poor idea 4 this game, its just not the rite kind of game 4 that, but thats just wot i miss. i build ships, they fight, they die or r recycled. it goes on and on and i dont get any sensation of ships/fleets becoming more experienced and gaining fearsome reputation with my enemies, that kinda thing, u know. no heroics.

i don't like the new ships because some of them are too powerfull and i think exspecially for the noobs the new ships make this game more difficult then it was before!
before the changes the game was nearly 100% balanced, but now sometimes it' slike pain in the ass when you get a br and see what these tóo powerfull ships can do!

i am totally agree with masterp, i only can add
we have a proof, before the new ships, we had some bug reports but those never make sense, now we have more and those are true. so with more new ships more bugs we will have

i dont like them either. The only time i have lost points is because of the new ships. They always have mistakes in the battle syntax that makes them much stronger than they should be.

aynway ... this feature (adding ships that players invented) is one of the best features.

once when we stasted planing spacetrace i called for this requirement:

"... and player should add their inventions (and if st will not reach this requirements it would be useless to start programming)"
(other requirements were: real time, real space etc.)

this is a feedback effect that make the game thrilling and dynamic and it is optional and moderated; so it's better

(so if you prefer a undynamic,non-interactive with out a players feedback ... i guess there are a lot )

but anyway it is a CORE idea of spacetrace.

Right, good ideas rise and bad ideas won't last, let's see what happens, but that's just an idea of mine...

(It sounds like treatening :S but that's not what i mean)

it's working fine. the player are much more carefull when inventing ships ...the feedback effect is cool . the player understand that they are responsible for the developement of the game...

Well, new ships are needed to keep the game fresh, but i don'like the idea of having them added while i'm playing, with rounds it would be easier because you could add them between rounds and everyone would have equal chances at the new ships,
There are also too many being added if you ask me (that includes prewarp), it gets messy that way. I knew all of the core ships by heart pretty quick, but i still don't know most of the new ships.

every one has the chances to get the ships , even the newest noob (and i like that much).

we have over 1000 players invetions it is a MUST to use this creative input from the players to make the game rich. it is clear that this moderated, restricted way of changing the destiny of spacetrace by the players makes spacetrace even more than a game (a playable piece of art that is changed by the way it is played... thx to the players )

i don't like the round system from a view of administrator because there are breaks. if you need a break just choose one on your own (anything needs a break, the idea of having a time restricted account is something that suggests a cycle of playing) just choose your intensity and peroids of playing by yourself ( it's left to you , but i think it is better because it leaves a maxmimum of control to the player ... and i prefer solutions like that )

!!! a well design game leaves nothing to do for the administrator !!!

in the game there are phases with lower activity and phases with more (wars etc.) ... that's the tide of the game... (this is nothing we can control it's just an observation)

@ Weylyn. See it at a good way. You know all core ships, but not the new ships. Everybody has that, it is up to you and all other players to use that ships.

The new players has that not, because they don't know 1 ship. So it is good for them.

The new ships brings a nice effect in the game, it brings suprises.

With the new ships i scored a lot, what i had never scored with the normall ships (in combo), but i lost many too (couter ships), by the new ships.

And it is good for the new players, they can get more ships in the beginn, because they haven't research much.

I had a battle with a good player on coords (couple minutes ago). He has maney ships researched and i not (less evalution and lost sometimes my research center). So we where agree to do a battle on coords with the researched ships and the ships of the pre warp planets. So we had a complete new battle. This makes the new ships good. Availabel for all players and in the beginn you have not only to use the fighter destroyer and cruiser.

And we can test our ships, what we have invented by our self, why should we invent if we can not use it? This problem is solved now, we can get it from the pre warp.

The suprise makes the game better, if you winn or loose.

well i like the idea... but players are not making ships for some races wich really unbalances the game... althought the ships are powerfull and is really making people leave the game or something like that... and the n00bs really do need help with everything...
