gravity bender (probe)
this probe uses a highly concentrated gravitational beam to "pull" its target coordinates of space-time closer and closer, to the point where it can move slightly, and end up at the coords. at this point, it shuts off the gravity beam and space-time returns to normal... except that the probbe is now at its target coordinates. however, given the enormous amounts of energy this requires, it can only scan 5 sectors, and the time needed to build this probe is also lengthened considerably.
scanradius: 5
speed: transwarp 100
researchtime: 16 h
buildingtime: 9 h

I think this is to good, 2 hours more research but and this tihng flies 10 times as fast as a dsp, no real delay. I think the dsp we have now is balanced enough. _________________

Anything with Transwarp 100 isn't going to work. I thought of somethinug else to say.. but then it was a bit mean, so I didn't say it. Just so you know. Try again. . _________________

And what does it probe for? Players? (unbalances the standard investigation probe), Fleets? (unbalances the dsp), Other probes? (scratch the osc probe), prewarps? (scratch the archeological probe), or perhaps a really "new" idea such as obtaining fleet course settings, jamming dsp's, or decloaking fleets?

you need to detect logic... and a brain |

What was that supposed to imply? Were you just trying to launch an insult across to a person you've never met before?
And for your information, Renée's post made a lot of sense AND was on topic. I can hardly say the same for yours.
Your the one that needs to find the brain mate . _________________

or, maybe my post made more sense than both of yours' combined. why isn't it possible for it to be a new kind of probe? ex. something that detects the travelers. being inflexible in your posts will get you nowhere |

Travelers? the ones that travel? or the checks?
seriously...if it's to make a probe that's gonna render one of the existing ones useless, just by increasing it's speed, or scanning radius, or whatever...i say no...NO, i say!!
to tell you the truth, ST is well covered, concerning probes...doesn't mean that if someone has a good, original idea for a new one that he shouldn't post it!! by all means, do! _________________ Don't look back...Think ahead! |

Sorry for sounding ending-the-argumentitive, but what you said in your first post didn't imply the same thing that you said in your second post.
To the inventor: Keep trying. _________________

this may be overkill, but i'm posting this because admin hasn't taken this off the "new tech" forum yet. this thing goes way too fast. it could traverse the galaxy (000/000/00 to 999/999/99) in 1 day 11 hours and 24 mins! TOO FAST!!!!! |

Pretty BA, i dont mind the Transworp 100, but its still to much sector scan, you could do it to it scans 1 sector then immediately self-destructs, unless you know were your going the 1 sector scan wouldnt do to much, i think that balances it out, and again with the 100 trans i think its pretty cool, we need something that is really fast, but is not powerful, if you change it it could be a fine vessel. _________________ 11/11/11 |

but there is already the scout probe which goes transwarp 20 and has a scan radius of 1 sector. if a balanced probe has transwarp 20 and scan = 1, then transwarp 100 makes the scan = .2
this is a tech that everyone would love to have, but that is kept out of the game cuz it would mess up what is already in it |
