"prewiew" button on newly discovered planets.

This is on the page that reads.....
"you are the discoverer of this planet. what you see is the name the local native pre-warp-civilisation is calling it, but you can name it now by your choice. your name will be added to the galactic maps forever:"

when you are first to discover a planet.

it should be "preview"

there are TONS of spelling/grammar mistakes everywhere
it's what happens when the makers of the game don't have english as their first language... what I think is, if you can read it, it's ok.

I admire the admins (and indeed all non-English speaking players) for their ability to speak good English. Myself, I can only say 1 word in German, 10 words in Dutch (the numbers 1-10.. DD taught me), and an adequate range of vocabulary in French (but who needs to know French?). From now on I shall post any spelling mistakes I see.

It would be better now, if the topic was renamed 'Spelling Mistakes'.

actually, I just evo'ed back in, and I think there are a few in the "newbie help" race thing. for example: coords is spelled cords

and there are a few throughout all the inventions that I've noticed.

but for the most part, it's pretty good. perhaps I was exaggerating slightly when I said TONS

Sorry to be picky, but I think that coordinates is the correct spelling.

Admin, how about a Usergroup for Spell Checkers? I would gladly volunteer.

if you don't know what this game is all about it might be of some use, if you read the manual first.
if you know what to do, fill out at least the fields with a *

how did you find SpaceTrace? - Spacetrace should be spacetrace

Starting Fleet Setup: Some information boxes have full stops, some don't. Must be either one or the other.

A suggestion:

I think a breif talk (not long-winded) about the rules will help to stop multies and cheaters. I suggest:

Rules

Spacetrace is a role playing game where you can battle other players and learn intriguing tactics. You can join powerful alliances and even steal alliance flags. Because spacetrace is a role playing game, there are very few rules. We trust that you will stick by these, and if not, you will be quickly spotted and reported, your account will be locked and you will gain many enemies in the game. Few have had the urge to break the rules, and they have suffered the consequences. The good players never break the rules and that is why they are in the Top 10 or in a leading alliance. So please, don't break 'em, ok?

1. Do not have more than one account.
2. Do not share accounts with other players.
3. Do not send abuse messages to other players/alliances.
4. Do not place indecent images as your planet picture. Do not name your ruler name/planet name/alliance name anything that may be racist, misleading or indecent. [I read a topic about a certain player naming his planet name after something that could cause offence to many players]

Also I don't think you should ask for someone's name in real life, I just think it's a bit too personal.

I'm sorry that most of this is more advice than spell checking, but I trust you will read if through I will post more spelling mistakes/punctuation mistakes in the future, but for now I am knee-deep in R.E homework (a whole project about the question 'Is there a God?'.

Shouldn't all persons languages begin in a Capital letter?

Like, english should be English

slovenian should be Slovenian.

It would just make it look better.

i am not sure where i could place this, without making the registerpage very disordered

Where it says -

Starting fleet setup

then you have the different fleet setups..

Eagle Fleet -
a very basic kazuuula attack fleet. capable of dealing with a lot of threats.
this has a full stop

Swank Fleet -
this is one of the most played and easiest setups. you can win against fleets with a full class 1 and class 2 but this setup can easily be countered by many other simple setups
this doesn't have a full stop

Meh.. it's a very small matter.. that only perfectionists like me notice .

It's weird..

Spacetrace, at the VERY top of my screen as a link is SpaceTrace, yet, in the logo it contains no capitals and is of course spelt like

spacetrace

If you don't mind me saying, and I don't want to sound cocky or pedantic,
but I critisize your decision to always use small letters. I think everything looks neater and more proffessional. If you look at all the really popular rpgs and mmorpgs, they have full stops and capital letters everywhere.

It's like putting a picture up on the wall without a frame. Sure, it gives the information but does it really look that good?

Mini jack... I think you are talented in marketing. Remember when you used to spam the forum with recruit topics ?
They were very well done IMO.
Not too sure about admin's decision however to use non capitals. As spacetrace is a "game" and invention, it is their "artistic license" to spell it however they want.
If this was a proper English class, you would be correct however, as I said, artistic merit does grant some freedom to express however you like.

Admins, yes there is considerable spelling and grammatical errors in ship descriptions and parts of the manual. I had considerable difficulty in understanding how many of the ships worked when I first started playing ST but I was reading descriptions wrote by many players who's native tongue is not English (inventors of accepted ships).
With some of the repairs that have been made, I do not notice the mistakes now as much. There are still many but not as misleading

Fair enough on the 'capital letters' thing, but still, I think there should be an entire redraft of the ship descriptions..

Do you want me to do it admin? I half a whole week free to spend time doing worthless things.. I could give it a very good shot . I'll probably be able to do all of them, in a matter of a few weeks.

I have found many spelling mistakes as well on the manual page.

In the story section mainly there are a lot of misspelled words.

MJ, thats really nice.

if you could do some descriptions, i will see if it fits in the context

maybe then, you can do all changes.

we need a short description for the reserch page and a complete description for the manual.

in the manual you see the forum topics on the details page to each ship, maybe they contain also some hints, that should be inside the description already
