Seems to me that hitting ex. an eray noob with the "eray dom" startup "signature" on dsp is way, way easy (too easy actually).
Any vet knows how to identify those start up fleets on dsp and can bury the noob with minimal effort.
I suggest admin add more to the start-up fleets and add some randomization to the set up on actual start (ex. replace fighters with runners for eray, with interceptors or penguins for kazu/myc, nanobomers or penguins for nanite or human, etc). This provides some "noob protection" making it more difficult to score so much with so little effort and (in a bad way) teach a new player a "lesson".
It also adds challenge to the repititious strategy for point gains from hitting on any inactive start-ups that never log on (more of those than real players lately). _________________

Agreed. What more is there to say? I can't think of any comments or criticism. _________________

Start-up Fleets were the result of a poll listing some of the best liked fleet set-ups.
I have mixed thoughts regarding them. They certainly helped me learn better fleet stacks and I must admit...they are nice to get when you first evo in however, there has been considerable abuse with them as well.
This has taken place in the multi front as well (what else is new) where someone spawns a new account ...sends the fleet off to target then spawns another new account to repeat the act all the while leaving the old accounts with the spent start-up fleet to die a slow lingering death.
I also agree with what Renee proposes as, despite it not curing the problem I outlined above, It's too much fun and helpful to eliminate them. More randomization may help with more choices available of fleet setups could also help with the repetition that happens.
Perhaps someone could dig up that old forum topic?
Lately, sadly to say, I'm not getting the time to get as involved as I would like to. |
