I'm trying to create a new OS style. Just tell me what you think:

The main screen:

The main screen with an opened folder/cabinet.

The main screen, with the search option open.

Kinda everything is open for changes, just suggest something!
I also posted them on other forums.

looks cool but.. i'm thinking its a bit pointless, but it looks cool and depending on what you do, it might be easier to access certian programs that you use frequently.

It's a design, plus, it's not finished yet. These are just 3 functions. Namely the search, A folder, and the main screen. You id give me an idea though, so thanks

The stripes in the back make it look a bit... depressive.

They are somewhat smeared now. Maybe if you distinguish more between the colours?

And that bar on the right, maybe make it a slightly lighter shade of grey.

But the overall design is good.

UPDATE!

I now designed the native browser, GreyHawk. I fitted in the ST main page.

GreyHawk is capable of adjusting to the background color, due to its partially transparent UI.

Wow!! Blackmagic I'm trying to keep up with the amount of posts you make in a day, but hey, I'm not complaining, at least now we all have something to reply to .

How do you make those things and where do you download them. Both DD's and BM's are really really good.

wtf!

I didn’t know it's possible to customize the operating system in a computer.

How the hell do you do that? What programs besides Photoshop are needed and where do you go on a computer to active this

“customized OS” ???

well looks like someone is a newbie with computers. dun you know that computers can do like anything you want if you know how to use it?

There is no photoshop involved in mine. DD's is a design he was working on. Mine is an actual screenshot of my desktop.

I use a variety of programs to give it this look. I use Windowblinds, with a Vista theme. I also have Rainlender, which is a calendar prgm that runs on you desktop. the start menu bar was dragged up to the top. the dock on the left if called ObjectDock. It has the same functionality as the Apple computers. Below, the black bar is my music player with a black theme to match my vista theme. All these programs can be found online for free.

Sorry that i jacked your thread! I just wanted an excuse to show off my desktop. I just added another program tat allows me to have multiple desktops like linux systems do ^______^ I'm a computer nerd

Ohh! Now that makes more sense.

Did you get those programs from downloads.com or something like that?
and will they work on a Vista laptop?

And ""what's the point of it?"" LOL. Ive heard that before:)

Anyways, back on topic.

I’d suggest the background be darkened up a bit on the top to bring out the sphere a bit more...

And "detail, detail, detail"
Everything needs more detail...
And does everything need to be a square or rectangle?
could curve (in or out?) the edges on those pullouts at least...

I was always told to not get the box syndrome that everyone seems to have with designing...

And the sphere is crowding the pullouts,
Id not have the bars stick out so far, and or, thin the bar on the right...
Objects that are Almost touching, but not quite, creates friction in a drawing (or design). Letting the objects touch or spacing them properly releaves that...
Beware of the centering syndrome as well. lol

Looks really cool so far though:)

Just keep at it, A design gets better and better the more time is put into it.
