One thing I have been unable to find on these forums is any decent information on what creatures are and what purpose they play. Unless im blind, there is no talk of the subject in the manual, and nobody seems to post about it.
Could someone please explain what creatures are, how to make one, and what role they play in the game?

Creatures are simply a mini-game.
They don't really play a purpose.
"Spacetrace" made a large topic on the subject some time ago.
