the idea is the following:
some ships (for example the holo fleet carrier) should not be destructed by a ship like the cyclops. We could programm it for every single ship, but now there enough ships to establish a whole class of destruction effects.

like this:

- disable -> 0 LP
weakest destruction type, reconstructable

- destroy -> -5000 LP
heavyly destroyed, but some ships can stand that, for example buildings will not be affected by a destruction effect.

- atomize -> -5000 LP
strongest destruction mode, nothing (or nearly nothing) can stand that.

for example:

cyclops disables 100 class one ships
doom star atomizes class 1 to 3
mantis destroys all class 4 ships

holo-fleet carrier, ship yard, research center are destruction and disable save

( we decided to call it obliterate instead of atomize )

I dont know whether you need to have a whole lot of definitions, or just to tinker with the modifiers a bit. For example the cyclops modifies 100 class one ships by -1100 but the apollo modifies 10 by -10, maybe the cyclops modifier should be -3 which would get all of the ships it was designed to kill and would only be marginally affected by sporators.
When you think about it, 100x -1100 is quite a lot of bang for your buck.

would solve actual problems but is not a future concept (what if we would invent a 1/4 fighter)

the categories are simple and non-numeric which makes it more 'human readable'

we thought about it to make it more simple, not just to add 'some stuff'

Are the "effects" sort of new commands for the syntax? If yes I think they really could be useful...

this is just a new syntax to make already existing ship-effects simpler to understand (and future ships easier to organize)

I think another word other than disable and you have got it then. Destroy, Kill, Obliterate. Disable kind of means it is still there.

just a question out of curiosity: if the doomstar atomizes, then it should be able to affect class 4 ships too. perhaps you can make this possible but increase the mp needed for the ship. =)

Nah, that'll make it possible for it to kill buildings also, and to take out a player, you'll need just 1 doomstar

true but if it has a higher mp like 3500-4200, then if the enemy has only 1 figter, and one mothership, you'd lose a heck of a lot of points. that way it'll be more risky. so... i'm just wondering. thanx for ur opinion though =)
