Everyone must read George R. R. Martin's saga starting with "A Game of Thrones". Do so at your earliest possible convenience.

Here is the first review I found for it on google:

I enjoy Authors such as Tom Clancy & Dale Brown. On occassion I read Stephen King and Dean Koontz and when I really feel like some fantasy, I'll read Clive Cussler.
I Had a look at that review Achillies. Is it really as good as you say?

Lots of books from John Grisham, Paul Maier are good. Dan Brown also is quite a nice writer, but I like his books mostly cause the genre is fairly attractive.
The book 1984 by George Orwell is also great.

I don't read dutch books unless I have to do so for school, but I think English is much better. Only if it where because the language is more pleasant and it has a bigger vocabulaire.

@T2:

Absolutely. A friend of mine turned me onto the series a few weeks ago, and I am hooked. I just started the fourth book yesterday.

I have turned several friends and my brothers on to A Game of Thrones, and they all rave about it.

Best of all, you can get a paperback copy, brand new, for about four dollars.

Although I'm a big fan of LOTR and the Harry Potter series, I have never encountered books like David Edding's Belgariad and David Edding's Malloreon.

Each series contain 5 books each, there is also two prequels and also one epilogue.

The only one I haven't read is the epilogue which is known as The Rivan Codex

I seriously urge you to take a look at these books as they are absolutlely classic.
