it is faster to research, faster to build and has a greater scan radius :p. Lets stick with the vessel scan

| Vessel Scan has a 2 hour build time. Most fleets are detectable prior of 2 hours which should give enough time to build a vessel scan. I have always coinsidered the vessel scan an "emergency" probe so i don't think it is needed. |

I humbly submit the Universe Probe 
It would essentially take 5 min to build, require no special research, and could be built from the first minute you start the game. It would scan every sector and report planet locations...  , then it would also show you all fleets within a 30 sector radius of your home planet. 
What do you guys think?
lol....on second thought, lets just keep the vessel scan....
