I wanted to start this thread by asking you vets how it was when u first started out. More specifically, did you have a large negitive score before u started winning battles? What did you do to start winning battles? I just cant seem to win anything My frickin score is -6931 at present

Well i aint sure if im classed as a vet by some i am and some i aint but anyways this is how i started out.

When i first started it wasnt till january last year i was a multi.
My score wasnt low although it wasnt my highest either i reached the Top 10 in my secound round of playing SpaceTrace. The first alliance i created was Evolution. The alliance for players had Kamekaze6, Twizzy and some others who i cant currently rember the names of. Plus when i was a noob still i switched alliances alot. This makes many people dislike you in a short ammount of time. (Dont Do It)

So as you can see my time in Spacetrace is a strange but quite intresting one lol.

Greetz, Evans!

My first account never went negative, strangely. For some reason, I ended with 6000.

My second account was at negative 5000 within the first couple of weeks. I was stunned, because I already played a whole round, and thought I knew what I was doing.

I teamed up with a veteran. He told me that I would be able to join his alliance when I got back up to positive, and that he would work with me until then. We attacked the BH nightly, conversing on msn messenger and on IRC. I must have been actively online for about 8 hours a day, sometimes more. In about a week or two I was up to zero, and was allowed to join. I ended that round with about 30,000 points. (For the record, it was Darmadon, and the alliance was Conspiracy, back during the borg days.)

Since then, I help any newbie that asks, and have never seen a negative score since. My highest gain in points was 18,000 points in one week at the black hole.

Some tips:
Never leave your fleets unexposed and unattended.
Never fight while offline.
Never fight while at a disadvantage, and rely on luck.
Always use at least two fleets, three is best.
Always use a dsp.
Always study your enemy: know what ships his race can/cannot build, look at his past battles, check your records to see what he had last time you fought him.
Read the forums, sometimes people reveal their setups when they try to report bugs.
Dont talk trash, make friends, you never know who will end up helping you.

Thanks Butch! I could use some help and thoes tips you wrote. I was with an alliance That SC above let me join, and they were giving me great tips, however that alliance was shut down, and now Im out. (or maybe my score was so bad they did not want me and wanted to be nice about it!)

Some other tips :
1) never attack the same player over and over again if you are not at war with him .
2) don't hit only empty bases and take out all buildings
3) Try to find a thrustworthy Newbie helper , wich will give you advice for set ups and explane how certain ships work .
4) Try to understand your BR's and learn from them , to build better set ups

My first EVO I had the Luck to be beaten up by mostly Vets ( score went to - 15000 )cause we where acused of being Multy . I learned from that and ended my first EVO in 8000 + score , never have been in negative since . THNX to advice from DK , Kame , Shade , Dutchbatter , Achilles ( The Butcher ) , Darmadon , Base and last but not least Turriana

i aint a vet by all means and dont pretend too be either but there are very few vets left in game and becaue of it i count as one of the oldest still playing anyway i can never keep my moth closed so here's my opinion.

my first account i totally fucked up thats what i called the trial and error account account two was kinda experimenting account three kinda trial and retrabution and if ur not good after a year of playing then

Says a little annoying child that isn't a good player at all but keeps accomplishing to reach quite good scores.
I still remember a conversation with Caboose about you bashing some Defiance members.
