multi hunter (class 1 ship)
this ship hunts multies and gives them their time of their life. it will kill them. only the admins may build and use this ship. after the battle has happened the multi will get a message: "make 1 account and don´t share accounts"
attack/life: 10000/50000
manpower: 10
speed: warp 500
(can only establish a warpfield for itself)
researchtime: 1 d
buildingtime: 12 h
needed research:
shipyard
battle details:fights
(battle engine syntax: f)
modifies LP by -5000 of 6000 ships of any ship-type in the enemy fleet in the same class, there are no known ships and buildings that survive this effect.
battlemessage: "multi"
(battle engine syntax: obliterate,enemy,6000,this,all,multi, you are screwed. make just 1 account and don´t share accounts.) |

ROFL and how the fuc would you find them? You simply can NOT solve the multi problem. You can only try to hunt them down as much as possible, and don't let it take over the whole game.
It has been done this way for years by the multi hunter team, and I have never had the feeling the amount of multis has been growing or anything like that. _________________ Nulla poena sine lege.. |

maybe the battle simulator - parralell universe thingy will lower the multi's by finding out which fleet setups will do good. |

And it ruins the gameplay. So sodd of.
Newbies, intermediate and pro players all belong in the same universe, that's how the simple basics nature are. _________________ Nulla poena sine lege.. |

I get the feeling if new players had a place to sharpen thier skills before hand or, as talked about in the battle simulator thread, some of the personal high scores would not be so high.
Would you be one of those guys Rob? Is that why you are against it ?
If not...lay out some VALID reasons for your opposition besides "it would ruin the game".
The only people it would ruin the game for is people who score off these new players.
For me...it would make no difference what so ever

How dare you insulting me like that. You should know better then this. This insinuation clearly dissapoints me.
The only time I have multiply hit newbies was when your alliance was ratpacking on me, and against some that I have a personal grudge for. All other attacks were hitting once, and then I sometimes asked them if they cared about it, or if they wanted protection from attacks by me and/or my alliance mates.
I always work this way, and I am 100% sure you allready know this.
I don't want a divided universe for several valid reasons. (Whether you think they are valid or not is a discussable point.) Here comes the greatest of my reasons, which actually is a combination of things that would be bad about it.
Quote: | --- It is a sign of weakness. People can't learn in a protective athmosphere. This is an argument that has been used all over the world (Protecting the weak without learning them to fight for themselves.), some examples are:
- The old way of financial aid that we gave to Third World Countries which has resulted in great debts for these countries thus creating dependence and this was just a new way of slavery.
- Education. Here in Holland, and in many western europese countries, there is a culture/trend among youngsters that a C- is enough. Well with only C- you will pass each year, but if you allready get C- in your pre-graduate year, you will probably score even lower the year afterwards simply because it gets harder and harder every year.
The great flaw of this situation is the lack of competition. People don't learn to be competitive. I have been bashed by people in my first few weeks.
I kept on going. I kept building new ships, but he was always to smart for me, until at some point I was learning so fast I was to fast for him and then I had my first battle with positive score.
Without competiveness, many newbies will loose interest quickly. As I have said thousands of times, learning this game entails a process of trial and error. You have to learn it the hard-way.
Last year in September, I held a survey among new SpaceTrace people. I don't have them all listed here, they are on my brothers computer. In the end about 60% responded, and around 25% said they wanted competiveness, and a good old challenge would encourage them more to learn this then a great deal of protection.
There are enough good solutions allready working. We got some good alliances where newbies are sticking up for each other, just as there are some professional players who make a big deal of score from hunting down the n00b bashers.
Those two and good advertisement and bringing competition back even better by bringing back the rounds should do the trick.
If after those things some people still leave this game, well then it wasn't meant to be for them. There are 6.000.000.000 more people that could play this game, one or two that leave don't bother me then.
I will not allow this game to be changed for the worse just because it might keep one or two players in. Cause then the game would loose one good player and that is me. And probably some others as well. |

Rob...it is not my intent to insult you personally and for that I appologise. I only call it as I see it and I do know some players actually look for new spawns to try to raise thier personal score.
Regardless whether you personnally do or don't is irrevelant. The old addage of "if the shoe fit's, wear it" and, if someone is insulted ...well I don't appologise for that.
Your valid reasons posted are certainly debatable however I don't quite agree and will debate them if you choose.
I do know what I outlined previously DOES happen.
Why do you think some new players start up 2 accounts ?
It is so they can fight battles against themselves to try to analyze what happens before they actually move on to the general game play against other more experienced players.
I am not in favor of a seperate "universe" for new players however I am all for some way to pre-analyze potential battles before they happen. It would be more effective than fighting against yourself for many reasons.
I, for one, do know of players that are currently doing this however I am not going to name anyone because the intent is not to gain an advantage against thier foes, only to increase thier skill level in order to become more competitive.
I also know of players who search out these newer players and score hansomely from thier inexperience.
Both you and I learned from actual battles and lost many points.
Did it make you angry that you could not beat these experienced players?
I presume it did otherwise you would not have multied up 2 or 3 accounts to try to get an edge against players that you could not defeat in normal circumstances.
If you had this ability to "mock" fight before hand, would you have created multiple accounts?
I realize these are hard questions and do not feel obligated to answer them but ...as I said before, I call a spade a spade. If it is insulting to you well, once again I appologise. |

I also know them, and I hunt them down.
And I accept the apologies. I know you normally don't intend to insult somebody on purpose.

Yes I know that happens, and as you have also said in your message, you have the idea of inserting some kind of a tutorial for all new accounts.
T2 wrote: | Both you and I learned from actual battles and lost many points. |
Yes I have, and I have learned a lot from it.
T2 wrote: | Did it make you angry that you could not beat these experienced players? |
Yes it did, and it encouraged me to keep on trying. It was just one player, which will not be named.
T2 wrote: | I presume it did otherwise you would not have multied up 2 or 3 accounts to try to get an edge against players that you could not defeat in normal circumstances. |
I created multiple accounts later on, but that was after I understood the basics of the game. I managed to get my score back into considerable proportions (Minus 4000 . ), and I started my war versus Total Ownage; which wasn't very smart after all:)6 .
I only had Gorth (Hades, King of the Dead.) near me, but I wanted to attack more of them so I created about 7 more accounts to attack a bunch of other TO-players 2 versus 1. I must say I didn't really excell in bashing TO, I was just giving them points. _________________ Nulla poena sine lege.. |

omg
another 'i hate multis' thread......
boring
anyway, i believe players creating multiple accounts to train themselves should get into an alliance, so there is a trace on what they are doing
