First off: Can you capture other planets?

Second: How? What do I have to do? And can I only capture certain planets? (abandoned, player, etc)

I greatly appreciate this everyone, thanks alot.

You cannot capture planets... (except the score planets - those 3 you can capture. They bring you and your alliance points on a daily basis)

You can move your shipyard to a prewarp with a pioneer ship though, but it has some extreme drawbacks and is most usefull only if you're indeed in deep deep deep (ok,that's deep enough ) 6it.

Well, that sucks... how do you expand or do anything then?

(WOW. I sound like the biggest NEWB in the world right now.. )

And is the Worm Hole (or Black Hole) one of the score planets? Whats so special about the Black Hole that the alliances want control over it?

Once again, thank you for your replies, it is much appreciated.

here is for me one of the best explanations of The Game.

BISHOP say...

Spacetrace can be viewed in the same light as chess, in this regard.

All players are on the same playing field, with exactly the same "number of playing pieces". It is how you use these "playing pieces" that differs you and your opponents.

The races are balanced well, so choice of race matters little.

Everyone has the same researches within the race, so you develop your fleets based upon personal preference. Your fleets are then a mix-and-match of the ships you are capable of building. It is then how you configure, position, and apply your fleet that sets you apart from others, chap.

If this were chess, I would venture to say that a queen would have 900 manpower, while a bishop commands 400.

I hope this clarifies things, old bean.

If you have any other questions, lad, feel free to contact any newbie helper (With the stars, son, the stars!) within the game. I also encourage you to pore over the forums.

Run along now...

so here its not about expanding its all about tactics.if you hold any of te score planets you get points.for black hole 1000 a day,for nebula and pulsar 600 a day which is divided betwen alliance that holds score planet.

Ok, I understand that. I love chess, and I can see the immense amount of playability for that.

However, two more questions:

1) what are the other planets for then?

and

2) Can you win or lose? (not talking about points... rather, can you die or be destroyed completely?) If so, please explain.

Thanks again! I dont know why some of this isnt in the manual but you all have been extremely helpful!

answer 1) err the other players in the game plus prewarp worlds which u can get points from by having the max ammount of fleet power there
answer 2) getting the highest scoe in the game is winning

well just to elaborate on planets.every player have 1 and then there are 3 score planets and pre-warp planets.on those you can find variuos ships.just go there with mother ship and colect which ever ship you want.abandoned planets are those which players abandoned.

you dont get any points from prewarp worlds.on some worlds there are some ships with special abiltiy.you dont need nothing exept free man power and a mother ship to get you there.then just collect ships and go and fight with them.but since you have your research lab you can research stuff and since te game is balansed you can win battles with your basic ships
