Nah, it was a somewhat *demonstration of power*. Besides, devoicing the entire channel for at least what, 20 mins? And not even noticing it? Well, in order to not notice something somewhere, you just DON'T look there. that's the easiest way...

But then again, what's the point of silencing a channel (or a part of it) if you don't look in it

Anywho, base, you don't have to quit, man, everywhere and always there will be some sort of power, and ones who use it (and, of course, some who ABuse it ). It's a minor annoyance, no reason to give up on something, otherwise you'd also at some point have to stop going shopping (remember that cashier who deliberately shows you you don't exist by talking with her colleague - since it's the only shop working after 1 AM within a 5km radius), paying taxes (when the friendly employee closes the shutter, cuz you came 3 minutes before his lunch brake) and the list goes on.

well, apparently here's the deal:

21:23 - last *spam* : Mighty
21:23 - case mutes Mighty and base;
21:30 - case unmutes them
21:30-21:38 - non-spam conversation.
21:38 - Omnipresent Powerful (OP) Darth Mother silences the channel.
22:05 - Disconnect, therefore end of log. Still the channel is muted.

/Since the time difference, a difference in actual hours may have occured. But either way, the duration doesn't change /

So, apparently, 15 minutes after the spam ends (with case's intervention), DM took active action to stop it. (When it should be long off the screen - ~100 lines before the time of action).And our caring for the channel OP noticed his own action at least more than ~30 minutes afterwards (exactly how much more than that, hard to say, didn't stick around to witness it).

Base, don't be annoyed by the display of power You can laugh at it though

well, I for one, wanted to see just what would happen, e.g. how long would you think the silence should be.
besides, the question is, NOT who found the way OUT of the situation, but WHY we got IN it in the first place. E.g. why did u decide to mute (whether just base, or the entire channel, whatever you like to say you wanted to do), but didn't even bother to stick to the monitor for a sec to see the magical:

appear? You muted because of spam a 100 lines and 15 minutes AFTER it happened? The spam which case took care of 8 mins before you? So what, that was maybe a *profilactic* action? Maybe you were so intrigued by the,heh, *ruined conversation* because of that spam, so after you mute,you leave the channel alone for more than 30 mins, not even bothering to wait for a sec to SEE what you've done?

You might as well just say it. You WANTED to mute the ENTIRE channel and did it on purpose.

Hell, , you might as well wanted indeed to keep the stats pristine - thusly by muting anyone, noone would get anything in it. But unless THAT's the case indeed, WHY did u do it? Was it really 'couse of spam happening 100 lines before? Or? Answer that
