i would like that. I think it could bring a certain presteage to the game. Only instead of votes is should be tagged to your account information. like your e-mail, name, town, time zone, you know stuff like that so if you change you in game name, and for some reason dont yet want ppl to know who u r, you still have the symbol.

I wonder what the admins think about this. There is obviously enough of us in the game that would qualify. And it would help deffine how old ST really is!!! (to the newbies)

I have a better idea, but nobody will like it but me...

Modify the scoring system to even out differences in players, like the Elo scoring system in chess.

Basically, when you beat an equal or better player, you get more points. When you beat a lesser player, you get less points.

This means, if you want to get a big score, you have to get it from good players. Bashing noobs will get you nowhere.

This is what this game needs, I believe. So now everybody tell me you hate it.

there is a problem, how to meassure who is actually a good player
there must be like a ranking or a diferent kind of score.
something like number of won battles vs lost

Yes it could be easier if people kept the same login name then it would rank easier.

The ELO rating system can be applied to Spacetrace easily. Each battle could be considered a "match", and count towards your ELO rating.

Check it out here

I know it is a lot to read, but it is interesting.

There would be some problems inherent in ST that would have to be polished before an ELO could be implemented.

-Multiple battles vs same person during one attack: If you attack a guys base, and have nine battles, that would have serious effects on both of your ELO ratings. I would propose that all battles with the same player within the same 24 hour period count as a single match.

-Weak victories against lesser opponents: There should be a minimum point gain in order for it to count against your ELO rating. I propose 400 or 500 points. Your ELO rating should not be affected if you lose a battle by 9 points! Again, this would count against the same player for 24 hours, so if you win 1900 in one battle, and then he wins 500 in each of the next three, neither of your ELO rating would change for that day.

This rating system could be used along with the normal scoring method. The ELO is what would provide a "veteran" class.

how about we make the ELO a side score, we keep the current score system and add the ELO system, everyone startes with 1200 ELO points, when u win a battle u get 5% of myopponent's ELO and that is suptracted from his, but the ELO is modified when all the battles are tallied. so u attack ur enemy with 2 fleets u only get ur ELO modified once. if u win few points but lose alot more your oponent gets 5% of your ELO, maybe this is simpler??
