Do you think the avatar file sizes should be bigger, allowing us to have better avatars keeping in mind tha it will slow down the forum?
Yes I think that the file size should be larger slowing down the forum is a sacrifice i am willing to make, No way i like the forum the way it is :-)

kk, so we are all settling into the new forum and are getting used to the new location of the latest topics button.
And i myself am becoming happier nad happier with this forum.
However, once again i would like to bring up the annoying subject of avatars and i just have a few questions for our very friendly Admin.

a. Why is it that some people avatars are really really big eg. Kandos. ???
And why is it that other peoples avatars will not appear to be this size?

b. When asked the last time about the problem of the kb size of te avatars, you said you dont want to change it because everyone has to load the avatars and it could slow down the forum. Well my queston is, do the people of spacetrace think this is a sacrifice we are wlling to make? Should we be allowed vote ad then we can possibly change the avatar restrictions so that we may once again have decent avatars that move properly?

Thanks for listening,
-Methi, sipping the tea and smoking the weed.

If it slows down the forum, it will slow down the game too, and that's not the intention you want I guess saying that in your point b. In the most forums there is a restriction so why not here

the size if 55kb is very generous, the default value was 8kb

in fact 55 kb is very much for a picture.
if you use a picture editor (like http://www.imagemagick.org/ )and save the picture in the size 80x80 px and in jpg quality with 30%, then you will have an excellent detailed avatar, that has only about 8kb

some gif animations have more, so we allowed 55 kb

point a: the restriction of 80x80 was not there in the beginning of the forum, so some players still have these big avatars, but it is not possible anymore now
