This technology allows a fleet to fly at impulse power. For non-Startrek fans this means the fleet travels at speeds below Warp one.
Okay, With this technology a fleet can travel at sub-light speeds. How this is done is the fleet travels at warp 1 +50% meaning if it would take 2 days to reach a target at warp one it would actually take three days.
Now Advantages of this Invention:
No more Stranded Fleets
Disadvantages:
The spped that the fleets would travel would be extremely slow.
I mean take a look at TTC
In fact, If this were to be added it would take a fleet travelling at impulse power 10 years and six months to travel from 999/999/99 to 001/001/01
That is how slow it is so it would be worth it.
Note! Imulse is a secondary system and should only be used when your mothership is destroyed.
Remember more things can be added to this idea like say, 1000 points to begin this research.
Thabk you. |

btw, perhaps admin could just add a warp speed for normal ships.
This normal speed should be warp 0.5 |

I would also like to suggest a red button next to where it says how long it will take your fleet to arrive.
When you press this red button, Your fleet should stop dead in its tracks. |

Good idea.
I dont have the problem, cause if it is needed, i deploy two motherships in my fleet. But for some players, this really is a useful idea. |

Interesting idea, and i admit that it would add a nice touch of realism.
but the downsides of it are far to great, it would take away far to much tactical play of the game.
When defending the best tactic is to strike the fleet at it's heart and take away it's propulsion.
how easy and boring would it be if we didn't have this pleisure.
Not to mention the major unfair advantage this idea would bring when it comes to attacking.
Picture this, You take 3 fleets at warp 5 and park 1 coord away from someones base.
you then remove the motherships from 2 of the fleets and place into the third,
you can then send your lower class ships in as you wish. for example sending in to huge fleets of C1 ships.
This tactic would render all of enemies higher class ships useless, as the class 2,3 and 4 battles would never take place, thus they would not become active.
recontructers, cycops, appollo's, dreads, all Mod-down ships would be absolutly useless.
Sorry methi. this idea is not possible.

Yes but impulse power is a defence mechanism to get home.
You shouls only use impulse power to travel to your own coords.
Is this idea so impossible now? |

Myself and Shade are currently working on a ship that can replace this idea.
So forget this.....
The idea should be ready by sunday or monday by the latest. |

a nice idea, but if you want to be realistic, then it would be like that: a ship that travels less than lightspeed would need more than 1 year for one lightyear (100 sectors) so for ten sectors it would still be 35 days. this would be about warp 0.03 (you need 5 h for 10 sec at warp 5).
so we could add warp 0.03 to all ships, but i think it would cause problems, cause you can only pic your ships up at full coords and if you need 3.5 days to reach the next full coords that wouldnt be much useful
the releif mothership sounds nice |
