the script is ready to use. you can start programming your visualisations.
you can download the script here:
http://www.spacetrace.org/javascripts/battlereport.js

look also at

i think the best benefit you would get from a visualized battle with no animations - a map, where you can see the attacking and the defending ships represented as squares from the size of the ships would make it more easy to understand the battles.
the size of a ship would be the amount of manpower, so a destroyer (mp= for example would be a box of 2 x 4 squares.

you can cut out all the information what happened inside the battle from the sourcecode of the battlereport.
if you need any more help about the structure of the battlereport - please ask here

if you are not familiar with regular expressions and you need the data for the battle in a certain format, i could program the scrript for you (for example XML or a string like ship1=1&ship2=12&battle1=23&..... - to load it into flash)

i think downloadable battle visualization is a great idea, but if you catch the battle then you should be able to control your ships.
BUT JAVA IS NOT A GOOD IDEA NOT EVERYONE HAS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as the visualization will be an add-on, it will be good in Java, Flash, or something like it, but it would be also nice, if it is just a php-generated HTML or just a graphic.

you will find this very helpful to interpret the technologies:
for Flash:
http://www.spacetrace.org/tec_data.php?querydata=1

or if you need the data in a text-Format:
http://www.spacetrace.org/tec_data.php?csvdata=1

or maybe human readable like this:
http://www.spacetrace.org/tec_data.php

I'm would like to make a php-generated HTML-page that shows the battlevisualisation, but I'll need a little more information than you'll give me via battlereport.js.

Because the battlemessage are different and come before the ? vs ? messages it's very hard to make from the full battlereport a battle visualisation.
Can't you make a precise raw text of what happened. Who may start, which ship affect which ship. And without battlemessages, but with battlesyntax.

I have gave it a try:
http://www.gaddim.nl/spacetrace
You must rederict it from the battlereport.js link or it will use an example.

But the battlemessages are confusing.

looks good allready - yeah but you need precise data - did you mail to admins for it allready ??

i find it hard to reach them at the moment - i hope they can provide you the data needed...

otherwise it might be able to trick the missing data meanwhile... just simulate the battle along the data you have... of course there will be slight mistakes then ... but a beginning and better than nothing for the start... you have to do some graphic routines anyhow ... sow hy not start them allready ?

regards

wizzo

Simulating the battle myself have 2 major drawbacks:
First, the order is shuffled and one little change in the order can be a whole new battle.
Second, is must do a lot of programming that I don't need to do if I had the raw battlereport. The battle itself for an example.

But the 'graphic routine' would be the main part of it. I don't have any ideas of how to show the battle exactly. First I need some info from the admin. Maybe you have an nice idea?

It will not contain any Java, Flash, Shockwave , just a little text info HOW exactly the battle happens. Because this I really miss.

i just thought to simulate. maybe with some bugs not really calculate a new battle...

what you can show depends on the data you can get - i dont know how the data is before it is put together to a battlereport.
but i would make some list with all the a´steps that happen where you can scroll (cause in a c1 battle there are some thousends of steps).
and more important i would use a way which shows how the battleengine actually works, i dont know much about it but i think they use some pointers in a list like

...FFMFFE against FFIII...

(F=Fighter, M=Mosquito, I=interceptor, E=EMP-Fighter)

there are actualle many questions in the forum about battles where are lot of ppl who dont know that much...

yes there is a complete-data for battle reports.

it's not generatted at the time, but i can run a test to give you the data structure.

it contains the whole order of battle.
