booster mothership (class 4 ship)
a normal mothership with a speed booster warp drive, when youneed to go fast you just push a button on the fleet screen and the speed increases from 5 to 8. unfortunately the booster overheats after only an hour (even if it s not moving) to recharge it must return to the base fleet for 1hr 30 mins.

1 hour of travelling at warp 8 beginning from your base... You don't get anywhere with it! Don't let the booster overheat when it's not moving, only once you start warp 8. And definitely lower the lp. |

I don't see the use of this one. The time is to limited.
And if you want to travel faster, build a time slipper. It will give you that speed permanently. |

Can you switch it on when you're half way through a journey? If so then it may have a use; you could suddenly make a 'rush' at the end of your jump to reach your destination much faster than an opponent might expect... |

And unlike the time slipper, etc...getting your fleet into a battle does not waste any of your ships. So you get rush ability plus no danger to you own fleet.  |

Yes as far as i can read you can rush it in middle of the flight, this might be very usefull to suddenly outrun ennemies or as mdellis suggested, give the ennemy an unsuspected shorter ETA, i can see a lot of other tactic possibilities with this ship. Which are lot better then for example a time slipper.
I think the MP is right, cause it has a big advantage on a standard mothership, but not as big as ships which have a standard higher speed.

Meaning: you take it out of your base and 1 hour later, whatever you do with it, the booster doesn't work anymore. So you can only travel at warp 8 for 1hour if you send it immediately after taking it out of your base. So it's of no use. It would indeed be better if it only starts overheating once you start the warp 8. But since it is then much much stronger than a fleet-tender (changeable warp is superior, and no massdestruction) , it would cost too much. |

That seems to me that you can choose when to activate the booster, so only after activation it will overheat, that's just my opinion.

its a nice idea, but it doesent fit to the concept of spacetrace:
we try to keep the game in a state, that you can play it without that you have to care about your fleets all the time. you need the free time to do some other stuff (working, meeting friends...)
this ship would need your attention all the time |
