there is a new feature:
players, that want to be open for newbie questions can be voted as a n00b-helper.
they get a yellow star () in the com list, so n00bs have someone to ask when they start.

every helper can vote new helpers in the planets com screen, but they first have to aks them, if they really wish that

here the three rules of the brotherhood of newbie helpers:

1. only vote players for newbie helpers who really want to
2. only vote players for newbie helpers who are experienced
3. only vote players who you can trust

so if you want to be n00b helpers too, just ask one of the existing helpers with the star:

As far as myself and the rest of the n00b helpers know. you only satisfy 1/3 of the requirements.
You might try coming on IRC where most of us are to proove yourself.

These positions are not handed out lightly.

great to see that there people willing to help others though

I'd like to help newbies and I think I can fulfill all 3 criteria, but at the mo I don't have an account, so I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with helping people in the forum. I suppose there is no way round this other than getting an account (which I don't have time to keep up)?

thats is the problem how do you know the player is experimented? how you can control that the "helpers" dont use noobs to they own-self benefice?
I wanna help i think i do complete the 3 criteria.. but trust is something relative. Also i think you need 4 criteria
The player shoul be on-line alot A LOT of time like half day and has to answer everything i can bet that if i ask someplayer he wont answer me only because he is busy or he thinks that the question is stupid

@beer, i am newbie helper ingame, but i do not know you and/or your skills. Just saying you play this game long does not say anything about you.

Since i have to act following the 3 rules of newbie helpers i myself can only judge you to applie to one rule, and that is that you really want it.
This enthousiasm is good allright, but i do not know if i can trust you and i do not know your knowledge about the game.

Now possible a question from you, what can i do about this.
It's easy, get to know me (or another newb helper) so this person can judge about your skills.

I myself will see what you post in forum, preferably see battle reports. But most important would like to talk on IRC or ingame.

But you can allready do a lot yourself, a newbie helper is just a name, you can go and help new players even if you are not a newbie helper.

Hope to have answered your questions so far.

Greets
