we plan to implement a new feature:
you can set an option in preferences for sound-effects.
there will be different packages that you can download and install on your computer.
everybody can send us their WAV-files with sounds for events like:
"you have incommings"
"production complete"
"incoming mail"
"click" (when a page is loaded)
"target reached"
"fleet destroyed"
"battlereport"
...
we thought about at least one package for each race, and one very discreet package.
if you want to create sounds, please mail them to admin@spacetrace.org
what other events can you think of?

The test files are terrible!!!! Please do not implement such boring things! There should be some backgroundsound and the voice should sound more dramatic if for example the planet is under attack.
I would prefer some sounds in Star Trek / Star Wars style. Perhaps you could create different themes to choose from?

sounds like decent effects are good - startrek did a great deal, yes - maybe one theme should be a startrek-theme.
somebody knows, where to download them? |

I think something in Ster Trek/Star Wars style would be cool, but the files you showed aren´t so bad that you couldn´t take them. They´re quite ok.

I think there has to be something incorrect.
I went to that page and it says that I wouldn't have the permission to access. "Forbidden 301". Maybe I'm too stupid, but I think there is something wrong.

the first sound package is ready.
you can download it here:
http://sounds.spacetrace.org/packages/ (8MB)
(you can also download the mp3 files here and convert them to wav, that's only 1MB)
create a directory and copy all wav-files into
c:/spacetrace/sounds/
this will work.
not all browsers support background-sounds
(it only works on Windows - Internet Explorer 5.x, and maybe some others)

| i think the sounds can also be converted to mp3, but i don't know, if all browsers support that format. MSIE5.5 can play MP3. maybe you can test, which browsers work with sounds. |
