another idea:

just the 4 basic ships have static mp:

1mp fighter
8mo dest.
60mp cruiser
320mp mothership

the other ships have a basic mp wich is getting higher or lesser depending on its usage.

like:

all players are using eagles ...after a week all mp-values are calculated. the eagle gets more expensive , for example 5mp.

all ships are tested if the are used more or less and they get new mp values.

I don't think anybody really cares if you leave the game...

I think it's a good idea, it would stop tech advantage against those who are starting and also mean players have to reconfigure their fleets at a certain time so game get's more strategic

Yep, I like it... It'll be kind of supply and demand thing /adding some aspect of Economy/ -> everybody builds eagles, eagles cost 5mp; but, everybody has been neglecting the troikas - troika price falls... Then all start building troikas, troikas rise again, etc... But, will the increase be real, or *fake* - like with clone labs? E.g. will the whole MP be turned into points, or just the basic value?
