recon frigate (class 2 ship)

this ship has mounted simple version of vessel scan, with 2 sector scan radius. it¸s purpose is mainly as fleet eys, scaning nearby sectors of foregin fleet signatures. in battle it do nothin, but only one can be active, so all others will be self-destructed.


attack/life: 0/10
manpower: 10

researchtime: 1 d 12 h
buildingtime: 12 h


needed research:
improved field theories

battle details:
modifies AP/LP by 0/-10 of itself in your own fleet in class 2
battlemessage: "recon fregate securing the probe"
(battle engine syntax: mod,self,all-1,2,itself,+,0,-10,recon fregate securing the probe, chain reaction on other recon fregates destroys,n)

Well, I screwed the battle syntax, didn't realize that ',' is a delimiter.

I figured that in 99% of won battles key thing was army's (or fleet's) recon units, and playing "step ahead" tactic... And likewise 99% of lost battles was result of poor or none recon. Those loses were often redicules like: ambushes, bull running and similiar "not knowing where going" stuff...

So this thing should be considerd, couse it could open variaty of tactics, alougth I think it'll take some work, but that kinda stuff should be considerd... at least that u know that scan radius exists some fleet (without vessel scandata).
oh yes, tactics:
i.e.: Pirating... (especily those multies

Yes, but u were talking about ms having it, even adding it as standard feature, of ordinary ms!

Perhaps more mp, but this stuff is needed!!
For instance I'm chasing guy around my planet, and for dps i need like 7h, and to be blind on stratregic location... (dunno what is worst)

Similar ideas have been submitted quite a few times I think. Scan ship etc etc. Sometimes for dsp type scanning, other times for other types of scanning. Co ords, incoming fleets etc etc. They are all good ideas but I am not sure that admin like em all that much :-/

Certainly, a movable dsp would give an attacker a lot of advantages, and the attacker already has the upper hand.

Yes, but those ships could be jamed, by mounting another type probe on ship...
Also nmbr. of probes can reamain the same, meanenig that ur recon frigate, takes one probe slot

Gulp, but fighting several times an enemy is the key of the knowledge
You can easily know his style of combat, common fleet setup and, maybe if you have a lot of patience, the time of logging in
