As the shield-generator fights in class 2, I suppose they can only shield class 2 ships. |

No... Unfortunatelly, it doesn't 
But, it can shield itself... which reminds me...
Last round I had a battle against someone with the good ol' eagle-wasp fleet... I had only a single shieldgen in class2 /it's cheaper than a destroyer  /... and, from the whole mass of eagles, a wasp got to fire first... so...
