navigation system slaver

this probe scans for warp ships passing through the sector, and "hacks" its way into the ship´s navigation computer. it then modifies the target coordinates to a new one. the new coords are pre-chosen by the probe´s sender, and must be within two sectors of the interception point. the warp ship (and fleet with it) change direction to the new destination, and stop there. the probe will not modify the destination of a fleet that is stopping at the interception point, it only affects passing fleets.

scanradius: 1

speed: warp 2

One flaw, though. Your alliance would be able to build a number of these and make an area unreachable. If my math is correct, it would take 26 of these to completely seal off one sector.

Maybe this could be vulnerable to the scrambler, or perhaps it could only affect fleets led by a mothership.

No, but everybody can send out three probes.

So, for example, a 13-man alliance could send out two each and still place dsps. You would only need nine guys if they used all three each.

This is similar to DTOR, but DTOR reroutes all fleets to the Black Hole.

@imareed-This is really nothing like your DTOR probe, in a strategic sense.

The purpose of the DTOR is to make sure nobody attacks your homeworld while you are at the black hole. There is no other way you can use your probe because it would be next to impossible to cross paths with another fleet that is going somewhere else. You might as well call it the "Don't attack my homeworld while I'm not home probe."

This probe will not send intercepted fleets across the galaxy. There is minimal disruption in their flight path. At best you could buy yourself a little time, or send their fleets into a nearby trap.

@jam- He was just spamming.

True enough, this probe is more powerful than dtor. This probe could be used to send an incoming fleet to a nearby enemy planet. Causing the two to attack each other, and if you are lucky setting two enemy alliances at war. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to attack you, must've been one of those probes that sent me here." Who would believe that?

Maybe 1 day and 12 hours of research.
