Well, they would be neat at first, but they'd get old quick. There was a civil war game that I used to play that had little scenes every now and then, and after the 100th time you see the same clip you don't ever want to see it again.
Just look at the clips once, and hold your gaze. After you get the pattern, that is all you notice every time you see it. You would be seeing those clips in your sleep.

It will also cause additional server traffic... But, both problems can be solved if the clips are downloaded on your PC... Then, first you'll don't have to download them... and also, they can be changed at any time - a variety of them...
Or even, just you place in the spacetrace folder on your pc a video by your choice, named "Battle.avi", a one "Research.avi"...

it's neat but it can slow down the site and make it harde for people with slow connections to play, and as mentioned before it will get boring and stupid after while
