There are limited things that a spy could do, if admitted into your alliance.

1. They could get information on who is in the alliance. They wouldn't have access to coordinates, though.

2. They could talk the leader into letting them become CoW. Then they would have access to the coordinates they need. Only a sloppy or desperate leader would let an unknown person take over such an important position. (Im not sure, but I think that they would be able to steal the mobile transwarp gate, or at least move it to where they want.)

3. They would have access to all battle plans and mass fleet movement, as well as the location of the mobile transwarp gate.

4. Most dangerously, they could give out the password to the alliance. they could then have a number of other spies join, and take over the alliance with votes. They could then make themselves CoW and get the coordinates they need. Then they would go back to their original alliance and nobody would be the wiser. (I personally participated in one of these missions. Sorry simstar. I didn't know if I could trust you after you knew my coords. ) A wise leader would change the password after each new entry into the alliance, and tell no one.

I know that this isn't the proper forum for this discussion, but it was brought up. Does anyone else have any other uses for spies, and have they been utilized much?

I am actually attacked by a multi. what to do? five fleets, far out in the galaxy...

they have: same language, same offline times, same stupid constellations (esp. 2 MSs in nearly every fleet).
Admins please help! I also helped you... trying translating a piece of the manual...
