Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this mean that if I enter a code here, all members of the alliance have it and can't fight each other? If thats true why do our fleets battle if their individual codes don't match? If it's not true then why not, it should be, and what is it's purpose then?

You must give the alliance-attack code to your (loyal) members.
