freelancer (class 1 ship)
this is a strong and cheap fighter. unfortunatelly the crew are not loyal to anybody, they are there just for the fight. after the class battle is over, it switches sides.
Well, actually it should switch sides after the class3 or class4 battle... It's usefull because it's strong and cheap, the drawback is that it joins the enemy...
attack/life: 3/2
manpower: 2
researchtime: 2 d
buildingtime: 13 h
human-technology
needed research:
science recycle methods
battle details:battle engine syntax: f
after the fight of class 2 it creates 1 freelancer in the enemy fleet in the class it belongs and the created ship will stay in that fleet after battle.
battlemessage: " freelancer switched sides ... ships"
(battle engine syntax: event,2,create,enemy,1,stay,freelancer, freelancer switched sides )
after the fight of class 2 it self destructs!
(battle engine syntax: event,2,sd)

Hmm, I think I like it, it requires me to think about it though, like, what happens to the mp when it switches, do you lose these points?

well i would think it switches sides after the battle/battles if the enemys fleet/fleets has unused manpower points or ship that were destoryed from the battle "only" other wise this ship is unbal.. |

Well, it actually switches sides after the battle is over... Some of it would be destroyed during the battle, the others switch sides. It's main purpose is to have a ship capable of destroying almost any fleet... The drawback is that it then is owned by the enemy. So you win the battle, but you loose the remaining ships... It's kind of stronger Penguin - the difference is it does win against fighters, and in the other classes battles it excels.
You loose the 2 MP though - that's the price you pay the mercenaries , but SirTaz is right - it should switch sides only if the enemy has enough MP left... But that's the other side-effect - even if the enemy doesen't like them, they stay in his fleet and block his MP until he recycles them or has another fight with somebody...
And besides, it really would be fun to send a fleet of theese to the Black Hole |

Hmm... maybe the MP is not an issue at all... So, ok, you have more ships than your MP gives you. But hey, it's a mercenary for crying out loud / <- wonder what that means... must've heard it somewhere on TV /. But you can't build anymore the "loyal" ships - you don't have the MP
So imagine a multy building a huuuge fleet /20 000 Freelancers even/ by being attacked by his "alter-ego ". He then attacks an unsuspecting player and BOOM - the 20 000 belong now to the player and the multy looses 40 000 points....
Either way, you don't gain many points by fighting against them - for example, 100 join you /+200 pts/ yet you loose'em all the next battle /-200 pts/. It's a really wicked ship - dunno how I came up with it |
