This whole conversation spawns from Shade expressing to me...and everyone else as well, in IRC that taking out the farms is almost as bad as being a farmer.
My opinion is...despite it not being completely snow white in the ethic's dept. , it is the far lesser of the 2 evils.
Myself.... I would be content to achieve 2nd place fighting against regular players or even NZ on occassion if NZ were making sure the farmers were not beating me in score.
I think however, due to player turnover, there will always be new players who attempt to try their skill against the #1 alliance further enhancing their #1 position.
Multi'ing will always be a part of ST as long as there is new players joining. After all...how many games is there out there in cyberland where "more is better". People who recognize the game for what it really is stick around and the others who learn you cannot win by numbers alone usually leave only to be replaced by some other guy who tries the same thing.
Multi's are good for teaching the new players that are serious in learning how to ...and not to stack fleets.
Multi's however do not hurt the game too much if they are new players. Anyone with experience however could cause considerable amount of damage by multi-ing. Emphasis perhaps should be put on making sure nobody with experience multi's
Thsi will have no effect on NZ's score however due to the new players trying their "horns" against the #1 alliance. |

I just got this in after convincing David of the farfectched nature of his "counter conspiracy theory" and then, apologized to him for not seeing the obvious or actually, deliberately over-looking it.
From a br a few hours ago - Iuz vs. KoT (???):
16.09 06:11
your fleet 2 fights against the base from Tales of Another Broken Home at xxx/xxx/xx
enemy losses:
class 1:
301 fighters
class 2:
29 empty HQ invader
score: 4370
OK, explain this please, anyone??? How the hell are we supposed to quit hitting farms when 1/2 of ST appers to be setting the sh*t up???
So I quote Davd now:

I believe reports have been made however, as I said earlier, it's not acted upon for unknown reasons. I can and have speculated earlier that a certain degree of multi'ing is overlooked.
We had Tales in TPC for a shot whiloe Renee however he was a spy for one of the new alliances trying to recover their flag. It was not KoT.
I became suspicious when I was about to transfer the flag to him, he deleted his fleet completely. I remarked to him that he had a very good fleet for defence. Tales is a very new player who does not understand anything at all about ship stacks.
I think Tale's initiation to get into SSA was to infiltrate the TPC as a spy and help them recover their flag. |

I would not waste my time trying to prove anything. Tales is not KoT. End of story!
Tales...you should have stayed with us...you wouldn't be building stacks like that now however...it's probably good your gone with the war on and stuff.
In the middle of a war is no place for a new player to find themselves.
Our other new guy , "Dragon" is learning real quick now. He'll be good and able to defend himself by the time he finishes his evo. If I ever see him making a stack however with 25 HQ invaders, I'll attack him myself.
Part of the blame should go to the SSA CoW for allowing Tales to build such a fleet to begin with. |

Nice answer Dinsky two "uh-oh's" should do it right???
To sum this all up: Renee and I look forward to the end of this round as this thread has pretty much ended our interest in continuing any further in this fahion. So we are just gonna wait it out and let or score rises slow a bit
No battles for us for 4 days now all other battles have come from our other members.
Boring us out of competition is I will admit, very effective strategy, the most effective I have yet seen.

It is inevitable that new players will avoid the highly experienced players after they get the tar whacked out of them a few times. Perhaps considering a change of tactics would be prudent. It's no fun logging in to blank battle reports and no fun hitting people with 25 motherships all the time either. No challenge...and challenge is what keeps the game interesting.
If I had the power, I would delegate you Dave to 1 team and Renee to another. Start over and pick out some new members and start ripping up the universe again.
When this war I am involved in (also boring on flag defence) is over, I'm going over to the BH and see who is there. I can't believe you guys have held the BH long enough to break -TO-'s record. It was shortly after -TO- set the record that they folded up from boredom. I certainly hope NZ is not following a trend as we would certainly miss their presence ! |
