Thanks for all the clarification!

I have another follow up to that fleet setup question... it may sound dumb but then again my name is on this thread so:

I have read the Combat Reports and the info regarding them in the manual but what is the 'rule' for no class battles?

EX: "If the opposing force does not have a class3 but I do have a class3 then my class3s simply move on an attack the next class up"

Is that the rule? So if I had two fighters and he had NO fighters then my fighters will move up to the next class and attack (if they can, I know some cant), does that sound right?

The manual sais that it works like that
.

EX1: I have 2 fighters, and the enemy has no fighters, my fighters attack class 2, before or after my own class 2 randomly.

EX2: My class 1 fights and kills th oter class 1. The remaining ships attack class 2.

It works the same with other classes, class 2 will attack class 3 and class 3 will attack class 4, class 4 cannot attack so the battle ends.

remember, the only dumb qeustion is the one that isnt asked.

KOT is wrong

The Example 2 is not true.

If you have your dreads and he has no class 3 you will attack his class 4 IF he has a ship or building and your dreads will fight and make the damage over other classes. But it just happen till all the enemy or yours ships in that subbattle are destroyed which means that if your dreads destroy a MS the other ones wont have a turn and of course wont hit.

If you have 2 fighters and he has no class 1 your fighter will fight his class 2 if he hasnt then you will fight his class 3.
Remember the first turn is determinated randomly but after all its ALWAYS like:
You
Me
You
Me

It seems boring with many ships but the software does it:D

I think EX2 would make sense too though (regardless of whether it is in the game) because I mean, common, what are those fighters doing? Just going to sit there and watch the big boys duke it out?

But thank you very much for your replies, all of you. Its been a tremendous help and I appreciate you guys not calling me a total moron.

I will be sure to update you all when I have something more to report. I battle my mortal enemy here in 2 hrs time again so I hope I will see those Dreads in action and come back with some more information, questions or things I think I have learned.

1000 fighters vs 1. After you destroy this fighter your class 1 will attack his class 2? No those 1000 fighters would be useless and thats all

subbatles

c1 vs c1
c2 vs c2
c3 vs c3

only exceptions are if the enemy doesn't have a specific class

Because its about subbattles. If all the ships on side are destroyed the subbattle ends.

OK, so the report goes as follows:

My fleet arrived, wiped out everything the scuzzy b@st@rd had. Dreads survived, seem to have done a good job in the fight. Now, he has rebuilt some more units and I hope my allies can knock those out so that I can have a clear shot at the shipyard next round of fights.

However, I have come across an interesting revelation, which has yeilded a disturbing question to me: How do you rid yourself of troublesome or annoying players?

Seems to me, that without the ability to DESTROY another person, or at very least force them into restarting... that you will have a single player (hell-bent on ruining your playing experience) that is troublesome, you are forced to deal with him/her and having your gameplay ruined... I dont think I like that at all.

What are the wise thoughts from you all?

Are you saying that if you attack a player you will have to attack that player for ever?
Well first he has to be near you
Then he should respet your alliance. You can banggan him and tell him to stop attacking you. If he just hits your base he will be a coward.
Normally it dosnt happen, just attack players here and there and the one that goes to your base is the one that you have war with.

What if, like I said before, he is absolutely undeniably hell-bent on just annoying me and my alliance members? It'll just take all the fun out of the game if we just keep getting bothered by this jerk that is trying to just mess with us.. See this is why I am an advocate (even tho it will never happen) for players to be defeated in some manner.. such as if I were to lose 3 shipyards I will have to start over just like a new evolution only it would be forced. I know that would change too much in the game (which is why it will NEVER happen) and I am not actively asking for it (because it will never happen) I am just saying that that sort of thing would protect against bothersome players, because you could just ice em off and keep going.. whereas now, what will we be forced to do? commit the majority of our forces to crushing this annoying bad and having a large bunch of MPs sitting on his planet to secure that he wont start up again? Sorry to say, but bad taste...

Thats why I asked the question, and why I think the way I do. I know there are arguments (good ones) against my idea and I would hope that most (if not all) players would just learn to respect me or my alliance, but I am not sure...

Perhaps, but still we will be forced to allocate more than a majority of our MPs to forcing him to quit. Then he may just wait us out, and we could never get rid of him..

It just feels like the probiblity for the game to get into a rut is really strong...

I just wish there was a more permanent and stable solution... like killing him watch his planet be glassed and be able to go home laughing about it

Oh well.. I will play with what I have and see what we can do... I am not aware if that particular thing will be a deal breaker or not for me yet...
