I cant connect to irc either, get a connection refused message, I use the java window and Mirc, could previously connect, havent changed anything, just can't connect anymore.

Why don't you move SpaceTrace IRC channel to irc.quakenet.org server?
It's the most popular server for game channels, differently from some "darkirc"..
