As Weylyn has said, our alliance rank is low because we recently accepted another player, The Outcast of Oval Planet, into our alliance. We prefer to help new players with potential by welcoming them to our alliance regardless of points.

After a long period of repairs, the VDN Invincible was once again ready for battle. With its crew of nanites now fully integrated into the ships systems, the mighty vessel finished its hyperjump to the Outback. The smaller support ships had already delivered some blows, but this time the Invincible itself would be in battle again.

Weylyn stood on the bridge, looking ahead the planet directly ahead of him. There was only a small defence fleet, his plan had worked. The fleet had caught Evans by surprise.
"Com, all hands to battle stations! Weapons, release the swarm!"

The weapons officer entered a series of commands into his console. Seconds later squadrons of unmanned battle-drones launched from the carrier's fighter bays. Within minutes over a thousand such drones were airborne and moving to engage the enemy, who had now become aware of them.

Three Cyclops cruisers made a desperate attempt to stop the wave of fighters and fired their heavy guns into the swarm. They took out several drones but the rest sped on. The three ships went up as several drones rammed themselves into the hull and detonated their heavy payload. The three Apollo cruisers also present never had a chance and were destroyed in an instant.

The remaining drones quickly altered their course toward the planet. The coordinates for the shipyards and research facilities were plotted and they began their long fall through the atmosphere. A second group broke off and headed for the large planetary defence gun in orbit.

Two minutes later, it was all over. Weylyn looked at his radar screen but saw only debris. As he watched, however, part of the debris shifted and he caught sight of a lone mothership charging its hyperdrive in a vain attempt to escape.
"Weapons, intercept and destroy that ship."

"Aye aye skipper."
The officer turned once again to his console. Ten seconds later a squadron of fighters took off from the ship. It was the Black Knight squadron, the only ace-squadron to have survived the onslaught of the Travellers…
